Hello everybody! Don't know if this is the right thread to post this.
Am 29 years old, from Calgary (originally from India), married and am ttc.
Was confirmed as having PCOS & IR today although been having the symptoms for a while now, the latest being a 3 month long never-ending period. Also have hypothyroidism.
I finally met a doc who at least listened to me and who seemed to know what he was talking about. He has given me 2 options.
1.) take fertility drugs to induce ovulation and ttc immediately
2.) Wait for six months to try and lose some of my weight (196 lbs, 5'-2").
Take maybe some other pills to address the androgens. Hopefully the lost weight will kickstart my ovaries and make em work again the way they ought to.
Now, Option 2 sounds like the most sensible one, but I am scared. I've been unsuccessfully trying to lose weight for a while now and time just keeps going by while the scale doesn't budge significantly. I don't eat much and I do exercise 3 times a week.
He did not suggest Metformin, but should I talk to him about it to help me lose the pounds? Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Hi Devita and welcome
My doctor recommended me losing weight before trying fertility medication. I would definitely ask about the metformin. I lost 20lbs using it alone and it worked like a charm (although I didn't ovulate because of it). After about 3 months, I requested trying the fertility drugs as well and it only took 2 months of them before I found myself pregnant.
