The many cysts in a polycystic ovary are follicles that have matured but, due to abnormal hormone levels, were never released. In a normal ovary, a single egg develops and is released each month. (Source: http://onhealth.com)

I was able to see mine on a vaginal ultrasound while the doctor was doing the procedure. I was kinda sad cause iI was really hoping that she won't find anything. But I guess it's good to know what is going on with me. It explains alot.
All my bloodwork is normal but it always shows up on the ultrasounds like that. After 5 months of going back and forth between a diagnosis they finally decided that yes I do have PCOS based on the ultrasounds. It really is shocking but I try and focus on the fact that I do have an answer.
