I believe the reputation points are anonymous but you can see the thread it came from and the comments, right?
You'll always be able to see who gave you points, their comments, and for what thread. It was done that way because before that, some were sending "karma" but accompanied by nasty messages.
As far as how many points you get, you won't know as it's based on what that person's reputation power is. The more points someone received from others, the higher their reputation power becomes.
To find out what your reputation power is and click on User CP and scroll down to "Latest Reputation Given". Your reputation power will be to the right of it. Keep scrolling and you'll see comments you've given and received.
