My Mood: Points: 3,445.55 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,445.55 | What prescription meds did you take for nausea?? HELP! OK I give up....Tomorrow I am calling my DR and going to beg for some kind of medicine to help with my 24/7 nausea and vomiting. I am 18 weeks on Thursday and I have been suffering for months now. I have tried every trick in the book and nothing works. I have even ended up in the ER a couple weeks ago because I was dehydrated. My Dr has not offered anything for it yet because as long as I stay hydrated I am gaining weight and doing OK.. I just don't think I can take another 4.5 months of this and I don't see it stopping any time soon.....
So my big question is what worked for you??
Thank you very much in advance for your help!

You can also ask about phenergan- it makes me VERY sleepy but usually works well and is safe in pregnancy. The Zofran can be VERY expensive depending on insurance, but it does come generic now which decreases the cost a lot- I was luck y and could get 3o for ten dollars, but a lot of people aren't that lucky. Good luck!

Zolfran is a spendy one though so some insurances require you give phenergan a trial first... Best wishes, hope these things help.

My Mood: Points: 48,141.53 Bank: 1,497,048.81 Total Points: 1,545,190.34 | I have a script for Zofran and Phenegren. I only take the Phenegren if I absolutely have to like if I run out of Zofran and haven't picked up my new refill yet. It makes me sleepy and it doesn't work nearly as well as the Zofran. I take 1 Zofran at night and when I wake up I still have no nausea. With Phenegren I was waking up at 4am dry heaving. Make sure you don't wait to eat breakfast. I have a problem with that and the longer I wait the more queasy I get before and after I eat. I still take a Zofran every night because if I don't I still dry heave in the morning. Sometimes, though rarely, I have to take one in the afternoon. Be careful though. Zofran is hella expensive if it's not covered by your insurance. They offer a generic and I pay $10 for 60.

I still take it now at 25 weeks for occasional nausea. With my insurance it cost me $7 a bottle. I would have paid anything for it though. I had a similar situation as you though, ended up in the ER b/c of my throwing up, etc. For me, the throwing up was an every day thing. I would wake up feeling sick no matter if I ate dry crackers, toast, etc. Everything made me sick. phenergan didn't help me at all.
When I first started taking it it would give me a headache, but that wore off after a week or so.
Good luck--I hope you feel better soon.

I wound up doing Zofran, b6 and unisom. That seemed to be the magic combo. Sometimes it wouldn't work, but I was at least able to eat once or twice a day.
I hope that helps!

Points: 5,372.08 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,372.08 | I've taken both Phenergan and Zofran. Phenergan worked decently well but made me very drowsy. Zofran is great and it's non-drowsy but it can cause contipation and headache. Plus sometimes insurance doesn't cover it and it's extremely expensive. If you go for the zofran I'd take a stool softener every day. |

My Mood: Points: 2,447.88 Bank: 3,649.90 Total Points: 6,097.78 | I take B6/Unisom at night and it really helps me get through the night and the next morning. I tried Reglan during the day, but it made me depressed, anxious, and also gave me stomach cramps with diarrhea... not much of a trade-off in my book. I have a script for Phenegran as well but have been too afraid to try it because it says one of the side effects is vomiting... ummm I don't need that! I plan to try Benadryl tomorrow during the day. Oh yeah and I got a script for Zofran, but my insurance won't pay for it unless the physician calls them (and she's in no hurry to do that). I happened to have one from my last pregnancy and tried it this time and it made me dizzy... weird.
