Question What IS it? (REALLY gross)

I've been on bcp's for the better part of 15 years, and I pretty much don't have periods when I'm off them. Well, I had my appendix out in February, and because of spending several days in the hospital I missed a bunch of pills. I started AF at the end of my hospital stay, it lasted a few days, and then I decided to wait until my next period began before I started the pills again.

Well, that finally happened today. Because it's been about 3 months, I was expecting a doozy, and the major cramps started a few hours ago-usually the precursor to the start of AF. Sitting her at my desk, I felt myself passing what I "thought" was a major blood clot--not uncommon for me, especially after so long without AF.

Well, I just went to the bathroom, before it got out of hand, and it wasn't a blood clot. It was whitish-beige, but NOT discharge. It had more substance than that. It looked like--and forgive me, because this is THE grossest analogy I've ever used--a small section of raw chicken skin.

So what the heck is that??? I've seen matter-type stuff before, but it's always been red and much smaller. I've NEVER seen anything like this come out of me. I'm not necessarily worried, since my body convinced me it was a freak of nature long ago, but I was wondering if anyone has seen something similar? If so, may God have mercy on us all. :p

I really don't know what it is- scary enough neither does my doctor. At least with me it wasn't the shell of a cyst doctor knew that much. I'm being sent to the gyno to see if they know. They are guessing its just lining that never got to absorb blood because of the thickness of the lining. Still kinda gross. But def. looks like raw plucked chicken. Let me know if you hear anything back to what it really is as I have to wait until the end of May to see the gyno.

Okay, I feel better now. I wasn't so much concerned with finding out what it is as I was finding someone else who's had it. I'm SO glad I'm not the only one!

The ruptured cyst idea is intriguing--I do know from my ultrasound a few months ago that there's a large one on my left side. But I haven't felt it rupture, and I usually know all too well when that happens.

Maybe it is just lining that didn't absorb any blood--AF started yesterday but there's not much blood--and it's very light in color compared to usual. I'm usually heavy and dark. I knew something was wonky when AF didn't show up for months. I'm irregular on my own, but usually I have to be off bcps for a while for them to stop altogether. I actually took a pregnancy test a while back, for the first time in YEARS!

I hadn't planned to discuss this with my doctor--just too embarrassing, and I don't think I could say the chicken description out loud.

Thanks guys, for your responses. I'm much relieved.

Could that be a mucous plug?
Some history on me. I've had strange periods for years now, very off and on due to ovarian cysts and uterine polyps. Well recently I've lost 30 pounds and changed up my diet, and I've just started ovulating again after coming off of the pill months ago.
One day around my ovulation I looked down and saw almost what you described, but it was very fleshy looking, like a beige blood clot. I later found out that it was my mucous plug because I hadn't ovulated in so long.
I doubt that's in your case, but just wanted to bring it up just as a possibility. Hope you find out soon what is going on!
Hope you are feeling better
