Default What's the best for PCOS?

I'm newer to this site, but love it. I haven't been able to find much information on the internet about which BCP's are best for people with PCOS. Are their certain bcps that are better to help with the symptoms? My main issues that I'm looking for help with are hirsuitism (sp?) and being over weight. I'm taking metformin 500mg only per day because that is all my doctor will allow me to take. My previous ob/gyn had me on 1500mg to help me conceive before, but I am not ttc currently. I'm also taking Desogen BCP, not sure if this is a good bcp for me? Or if there is one that may work better. I've read on this board about diane, but I don't think my insurance covers that one. Any insight would be great!

I know of a few women who take Yaz BCP. I can't tell you that it will be the best pill for you though. Everyone's body is still different, so what works well for one might not for another. Your best bet I believe is trial and error.

Personally, Yaz made my periods even wackier and I'm not currently on any BC.

Best wishes--

There's a sticky at the top of this board called How to Choose a BCP or something like that. The linked articles have some good information. Yaz and Yamin have the lowest androgenic properties, meaning they are the least likely to raise testosterone and cause excess hair. In fact the progestin in them has been shown to actually lower testosterone.
