Hi all- I just suddenly had the chin area acne thing happen also! DX with PCOS in 2002. I NEVER had acne in high school. Probably because I didn't have any hormones. ha-ha. this JUST happened within the last 3 months or so. Every skin care line I've tried makes it worse and also causes breakouts on my nose. I hate to spend $$$ to see a dermatologist. does anyone have a good suggestion for good cleanser and moisturizer? I don't wear any makeup, and my skin is starting to look old and yucky. i'm only 32- help!!! twk
A lot of it depends on your skin type. I have combination skin with after-acne hyperpigmentation, and while it's sensitive, I can tan easily and can use "harsh" products.
I like Murad's skin care products, but it's expensive. They also have this "product line" mentality that I don't care for. However, I do think their products work. They do expect you give their products 4 weeks to "purge" your skin, although I've heard of people who get good results in just a few days.
I don't like Proactiv because not only are there cheaper alternatives, it bleaches EVERYTHING and is quite harsh for the skin.
I used to use Clinique a lot, but they're quite "product line" as well, to the point that it's difficult to just get one product from them. I really like their toner though. They also have an aloe-based gel moisturizer, called "Moisture Surge" that I really like. I'm not sure if they still make it though.
Right now I pick and choose depending on my mood and what my skin needs. I use Cetaphil cleanser sometimes and St. Ives scrub or Murad's AHA/BHA scrub other times. I've been mostly using Clean & Clear Advantage Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer, as it doesn't feel greasy to me. Sometimes I'll mix in a drop or two of Murad's acne gel at night. I also try to do two Queen Helene Mint Julep masks a week, followed by a Biore clear pore strip. If I have a pimple that's really bugging me, I use a dot of Murad's acne spot treatment on it.
A lot of finding good skincare is what your skin needs and what feels good to you. Acne zapping ingredients include sulfur, salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide. AHAs and BHAs help with cell turnover, which will help your skin clear acne and uncover new skin faster. Makeup artist Bobby Brown really advocates the use of AHAs.
I've noticed that my acne is largely dependant on my hormones, and what is going on with my herbal and acupuncture regimen. Therefore, I've come to the conclusion that there's only so much I can do for my acne, and the rest of it is truly out of my control. It really, really, sucks, because every time I think I'll be able to see myself without acne or hyperpigmentation spots for the first time, the cycle starts over again.
I wish you luck in finding products that work well for you!

I've had success using benzole peroxide instead of salisytic acid or however you spell it. So that might help you as well. I would apply it morning and night and heavily. My chin cleared up super fast.
I've also switched from harsh makeup to mineral makeup (everydayminerals.com) and that has stopped my chin acne all together. I have no had a breakouts in the 5 months that i've been using it.
Now as far as skin care goes. I absolutely LOVE Beauty Control. Origins is also a great choice in my opinion. Those are the two lines I've used and I have dry skin. THey both have products for both acne and sensitive prone skin as well!
Best wishes in finding something that works well for you too!!

I'm a Dr. Perricone addict. I have never used anything close to their DMAE Nutritive Cleanser. It makes my skin feel amazing. The line is very, very expensive though. I have combination skin and it controls the oil without drying. It's amazing.

Has anyone tried DHC? I got a sample once in the mail and really like their deep cleansing oil. It really pulls all the extra flaky skin and oil plugs up.

I started using Joesoeph's line a couple months ago and I LOVE it. They have a website or you can buy it on amazon.com. I've tried almost everything and this is by far the best. I recommend starting with the acne starter kit and glycolic face cream.
with that said, I love mary kay products. I have used them all with great success.

Hi This is actually my first post! I've been reading the forums for awhile but I finally decided to contribute seeing as it might help someone.
I have very sensitive combination skin. My skin is naturally oily and I have mild acne...but many products are too harsh and my skin does a flip-flop and becomes too dry and I only get MORE acne!
To any fellow ladies out there that might share my pain, I suggest lush skincare. I discovered this company while in Montreal a few years ago...and I'm completely addicted! Not only are their products natural, but they're also very affordable. Their cleansers have succeeded at balancing my skin where MANY others have failed. My favorite is the aquamarina. It looks like a big sushi roll and contains seaweed. At first I thought it was really crazy to put seaweed all over my face...but I can't argue with results!
I use St.Ives Apricot Scrub when I take a shower, and follow up with Clean and Clear persa-Gel benzoyl peroxide on problem areas afterwards.

I use the cleaning milk, a spray toner which is for balancing, and depending on the time of the month either the rose cream or an oil at night. They make sunscreen as well.
From time to time I use their balancing mask, but that's rare. Its in my drawer and will probably expire before I use it up.

I use Avene products, specifically Redness Telief soothing cream. its tinted green, and green being an opposite color, helps to conceal blemishs. i have roseca, which makes my skin go crazy and is ULTRA sensitive, but i find it amazing. i have a 1.35 fl oz bottle and it lasts me for about 2 months
ive tried expensive stuff, recently i tried clean and clear, believe it or not, works great! i use the astringent and persagel, like 4 bucks each, give it a shot!
I'm in the UK and I use the Liz Earle skincare line. I just checked their website and you can get it in the US as well. I really recommend it as their products are completely natural. It may take longer than something like clearasil to see results but my skin feels great as the products are not too harsh. www.lizearle.com
PS. It all smells good too!
