I was just wondering--what's the longest you've been without an AF?? I haven't had one so far in 8 months, but the longest I've been is 2 years. And it's been 4 years since I have had an AF on my own (w/ out BCP) Anyways I was just wondering!

Anna-
I don't remember the last time I had my period on my own with no meds bringing it on. I went on BCP when I was 20 and went off of them when I was 25, since then I have needed provera or prometrium to bring them on. I guess the longest I can remember before going on BCP was6 months. Just a FYI it is not good to go longer than 90 days without having it, it increases your chance of getting uterine cancer, at least that is what my RE has told me, you might want to give your dr. a call. Good luck

I have gone years without AF. As a teen I never got AF... it was induced for the first time when I was about 18 or 19 and since then I have had *maybe* 4 or 5 on my own without medication (I am 30 now). Nikki is right though, it isn't good to go more than 3 months without having AF as your lining needs to be shed. I am TTC, but before then my obgyn told me to come in every 3 months for a shot of progesterone to bring on AF.
I probably went years without a period. I would have occasional spotting, but not any real bleeding. I hated going to the doctor and honestly didnt mind not having to bother with a period. Then I pulled my head out of my butt and went to the doctor.

I think it was 4 mo. for me. I agree with the others who said that it's not good to go for much longer than 90 days without a bleed. Your uterine lining needs to be shed otherwise it keeps building up and building up and puts you at risk for something called hyperplasia which can turn in to uterine cancer if left untreated. So go to the doctor and get some provera. I know it sucks but you gotta protect yourself.

About 9 months. I've had periods induced twice...almost three times, but I actually started a day before the doc's appt. I normally average 2-4 a year, without BCP.
