Default What's the right dose of Alpha Lipoic Acid?

I just started taking this and so far have only been taking one 100mg capsule/day according to what it says on the bottle.

Does anyone know what the recommended dose is for ALA? Or is the 1 100mg/day enought?

This is recomended as a normal dosage.

Dosage 50 – 100 mg per day as a general antioxidant

First of all, regular alpha lipoic acid isn't as effective as we think because it's 50% synthetic and 50% natural. There is a new version of alpha lipoic acid on the market called R+Alpha Lipoic Acid which is much more effective than regular ALA. In terms of glucose disposal alone, it's 27 times more effective. Taking 100 mg of ALA is Ok for people who just want a general antioxidant although no benefits have been found at such a low dose. Therapeutic dosages to treat or prevent insulin resistance for example are in the ranges of 600 to 800 mg daily. It's very unlikely that you will get any benefits from 100 mg of regular ALA.
