Question What's up with that?!

Hi,
Were any of you ovulating regularly before being prescribed Met.?
My Doctor wouldn't give it to me because I am regularly ovulating!
Is that a good reason not to give it to me?...I don't know because I have never heard of that before.
I just wanted it to help me with my weight.
I was on it for 2 months before I got pregnant my 1st daughter and I lost 20 lbs. so I hoped that it would help me again.

I'd find a different doctor. My primary gave it to me because I asked for it but he made it clear to me that he thought the only benefit of taking met was to ttc. We know that's not true. I'd find a doctor that has a better understanding of PCOS and it's treatment options.

Metformin is a diabetes drug. Using it to loose weight, lactate, ovulate or get pregnant is using it off label. I ovulate normally, but my doc put me on Met. My mom, FIL and MIL have all been on Met, and not for ovulatory problems, lol. I would switch docs if I were you!

Miraclemom i just seen this postnow. I am so sorry your dr wouldn't give you met. Do you think printing off any artiles on the importance of met for us will help your dr give it to you. Don't give up. Just asuggestion here do you think if you ask your gp for it would he prescribe it for you.

Meshel and Jashobeam~Changing Doctors is not something that I am willing to consider at this point just because of not understanding her reasoning behind giving me Metformin.
She has been my Doctor for about 14 years and has always been someone that I have trusted with my care.
She consults with her good friend who is an RE on my case and I tend to trust them both.....there must be an underlying reason why,in my case,that they feel that I should not have the Met.
I will inquire further and get to the bottom of it but I just don't understand it as of yet.
Thank you both....I appreciate that you were just looking out for what was best for me.{{BIG HUG}}

Lisa~ I haven't asked my family Doctor.....but I should find out what she thinks about the whole thing because I trust her judgement as well.
Thanks for bringing that up!
