First of all, my bcp's aren't doing me any good, this time I got my period halfway through the pack! What's up with that? Plus, neither the pills nor Vaniqa has helped with my facial hair. They haven't helped with my acne either. I'm depressed, moody and hate the way I look, not to mention my face is as broken out as my teenage siblings faces and I'm 22!
I have been on Atkins for 2 weeks but haven't noticed any changes really, I lost maybe 7 pounds but that's prolly all just water.
I don't want to sound like a druggy and be like "put me on Met and Spiro", but I'm willing to try it if it would help.
What do y'all think I should do? I just want to feel good about myself. |

If you can't talk to your doc like that, then you need a different doc. You need to be able to express your feelings and let the doc know what's going on and be assured that it will be treated right.
For me personally, I felt like total garbage until I went on Met. The met turned everything in my moods around. I was on antidepressants and everything. But, once I started the Met, I tried going off the antidepressants...sure enough. I didn't need them anymore...
BCP's...I'll never take them again! I'm going to do NFP (after I deliver, unless I lose this one too) unless I absolutely can't get regular with just diet, exercise and the met.
Hang in there...remember, the doc works for YOU!
Keep us posted on what happens...

If you don't have an open, honset relationship with your doctor, the lines of communication won't be open, and you'll be in the same boat you are now... If you can't talk to this doc, find another one you feel comfortable dicussing all of this with.
I am on Yasmin BCPs, which seems to be pretty popular with PCOS patients, as well as Metformin/Glucophage. I'd definitely hold off on anti-depressants tho, and see how you feel on Met. But be aware it does take some times for your body to adjust to Metformin (for most people I should say) and you might feel worse for the first few weeks, but once that inital stuff goes away, you will probably feel better, physically and emotionally.
I hear with Atkins it takes awhile to start losing real weight, not just water weight, but hang in there cause some of the results are terrific! If you are on it for awhile and are still not happy, there are plently of diets out there you can try.
Just please don't get discouraged. PCOS and all that goes alone with it is difficult... Believe me I understand that, but sounds like you're doing everything right... Going to your doc, Atkins, etc... Keep up the good work hon!
