Default What is so different about Yasmin?

I went to see my Dr last week to try to get met, and she asked if I had read anything about Yasmin being used to treat PCOS. I like my Dr but she is one that thinks BCPs are the great solution to all the world's problems, so I just said no and let's try the met. I am wondering though, what was she talking about? What is different/ better about yasmin for treating PCOS?

Yasmin has a new progestin called drospirenone in it. Drospirenone is related to spironolactone and has anti-androgenic properties. That is, it will help with acne, facial hair, and thinning head hair. It has also been reported to cause more weight loss (or less weight gain) than other pills. Many women on this board have noticed good results with Yasmin (myself included) but it isn't necessarily satisfactory for all PCOS women.

Hope this helps!

Janet

I was diagnose with Pcos. I was on orthro tri cyclen but when yasmin came out I was put on it. I been on it ever since. I can't really tell the difference if it helps. But this week at my doc. appt. I was switched back to orthro tri cyclen. Apparently yasmin starts creating blood clots. He told me that he was taking all of his pateints off yasmin.

Question I just started

I just started on Yasmin. I am talking it with met. It's only been a week, so I'm not sure if it's going to make a difference, but I certainly hope so! I could use all the help I can get! : )
