A little back ground for those interested: My fasting glucose is good (82) but my IR has definately caught up to me and my blood sugar reading after eating a reasonable, low-carb lunch has been about 150ish. I'm back on met (took it several years ago while ttc). I was hoping that diet and exercise would keep my blood sugar in line but it seems the met is now necessary eventhough I don't fall w/in the guidelines to be officially diagnosed as diabetic. Right now I'm just on 500mg and letting my body adjust then my doctor wants to do a GTT to see how/if my numbers are improving. We'll adjust the meds from there.
We (doctor and I) sort of stumbled on the blood sugar issue when I went in to have my heart checked. I had several 'spells' of booming heartbeat, extreme fatigue, shakes, etc. He checked my blood sugar one time while I was in the office as this was happening and my reading was 148. High but not insanely, kwim?
My doctor is convinced that the blood sugar is not actually causing the other symptoms. He believes they are two separate issues. We're still investigating so I guess the jury is still out. I'm still having the rapid (though not always 'booming') heart beat about 30 min to 1 hour after lunch and I have a terrible afternoon 'slump.' I have a really bad case of 'I wanna get back in bed!'
All that to ask: What sorts of sypmtoms, if any, do you experience when your blood sugar is not under control? And when you have these symptoms how high is your sugar typically?
Thank you so much for any input you can offer!
