Points: 1,483.10 Bank: 91,539.60 Total Points: 93,022.70 | What testing should I beg for? I just came from the ER where we found out that I am either having my 5th miscarriage coming soon or else I have an ectopic. Nothing much could be seen on the u/s, except a bit of free floating fluid that they suspected was from a burst cyst. I should have been 5 weeks and 6 days when I went in. My betas were rising, but now have slowed. I had my first one on 13 dpo and it was 34, 2 days later it was up to 102, 3 days after that it was 416. Now it is 1 week and half a day later, they were only 823.
What I am wondering is, what tests can I try to get my doc to do while I wait for news of it being ectopic or while waiting for the miscarriage to begin? I was diagnosed with pcos about 18 months ago, but this time I have been on metformin, progesterone suppositories, etc. and yet here we go again. I am thinking that finding out in advance could be helpful in getting tests run to find the exact reason I keep m/cing. Anyone have any ideas?

I am going through the RPL testing process right now. Check out these sites for information: http://www.haveababy.com/rpl/aboutrpl.asp?site=stl http://www.millenova.com/tests/preglosspan.asp http://www.millenova.com/tests/sdi.asp (for DH; he has lots of swimmers and they swim well enough, but he has white blood cells in his semen which is reducing his morphology - the RE thinks a hernia that he had in the past has caused an inflammation in his reproductive tract)
I had a hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy last week and all came back OK. Waiting for the bloodwork results to come back, plus the labwork from DH's sperm DNA fragmentation test.
Keep us updated. We all hope all turns out OK.

This is another another blood test you may want to have done. Thrombophilia
As well there are a few others mentioned you may want to see about having done.
Antiphosphotidylserine
PAI-1 levels and activity
Antithrombin III
Prothrombin II mutation
Protein C activity
Protein S activity
Factor V Leiden
Supposedly there is a higher incidence of Thrombophilia among women with PCOS. |

If you haven't had an HSG - I'd ask for one to make sure you don't have any uterine abnormalities or adhesions that could cause you to miscarry.
Sorry to hear that you might be miscarrying. I was dx after my 3rd loss with antiphospholipid antibodies syndrome - a blood clotting disorder that affects the placenta. Now I take progesterone (vaginally as prescribed by RE) 3DPO and 81mg aspirin and once pregnant I do heparin. That worked with my 4th pregnancy (my DS), however I just miscarried again (probably due to old eggs).
Good luck to ya!

My Mood: Points: 13,108.46 Bank: 12,041.38 Total Points: 25,149.84 | Hello, websissy. Well, I'm a member of the APS "club" now. Hayles told me you gave her some good info on APS, so I'm going to PM you with my email address, if you don't mind passing the info along to me as well.
About 11:15, the doc's office called me back. They want DH to have a full-on male workup with a urologist for the white blood cells in his semen, and I have antiphospholipid antibodies syndrome. More specifically, anticardiopin antibodies (which came back "high" for normal ranges) and lupus anticoagulant (which came back a bit low for normal ranges). In the anticardiolpin categories, my igM and igG factors came back high, and some sort of phosphate serum came back nigh. Not good. I'm to keep taking baby aspirin, and this means any future pregnancies will have to be treated with heparin, and I may have to have IVIg.
I'm upset right now, but trying to keep my calm, since 1) I'm at work and 2) I know a few people who took heparin during their PGs and had children. I'm trying to focus on them right now.
Hope everyone else is OK.
