...do I need to check for PCOS?
I have most of the PCOS symptoms - cystic acne that wont respond to any OTC creams, etc; tons of facial & body hair that wont stop growing even with spironolactone; body/facial flashes; irregular periods; rapid weight gain; & skin pigments.
But after checking for diabetes (which I don't have) and my male hormones (within normal range, but I take birth control & don't know if it influenced my results) my doctor concluded that he is not sure whether I have PCOS or not. My question is exactly what tests should I have to evaluate PCOS? I heard that ultrasound of ovaries are taken? Is this true?
In any case, my doc. prescribed spirnolactone (spelling?) for the male pattern facial hair and after several months on it, I can say it has not helped with the hair or acne. I still have to shave everyday & use OTC acne products. Also I am sweating profusely with this medication. IS this normal?
I stubmled across this forum just now and am really glad I did

Thank you
