Hi Rebecca,
Welcome to SoulCysters.
I too had difficulty being diagnosed because I do not have the cysts on my ovaries, and I think I found every non-informed Dr in the State before I got a Dr who tested me properly. I have been diagnosed with the syndrome, but so far no cysts indicated at scans.
I personally found it helpful to read a lot on pcos and causes of infetility, which in turn, was helpful in providing info to my Dr. I made a note of all the pcos symptoms that I felt related to my situation and took it to the Dr and said something like 'I have been reading about pcos and I think I have these symptoms. I would like to have some tests to either confirm it, or rule it out.'
Did your pelvic Ultrasound results indicate the size of your follicles? Mine were always small, not maturing at a normal rate, contributing to my lack of ovulation/pregnancy.
The blood test I had for insulin resistance was a GTT - Glucose Tolerance Test. It confirmed IR, indicating that my insulin level did not meet what were considered "normal" levels. They can also test all your hormones etc to see if they are at the correct levels for the particular time of your cycle, like progesterone and Testosterone etc.
It can be a bit overwhelming to keep seeking a dr to test & diagnose, I wish you luck in trying to find your answers. Perhaps, keep reading, especially at this site. Also, several Aus cysters recommended a few Drs on the sticky at the top of this forum, which may help. There is a wealth of info here at SC.
Good Luck. |
