Ok I am looking around at all the posts and I notice that everyone but me has little things under their location on the side with their name. What are they and how do you get them?

Those are ribbons and gifts. For every post and threat you write you get points and the points are in a 'bank'. You can check out your points in the Ribbons & Gifts section above it is between ChatRoom and PCOS T-Shirt.

Cheryl, welcome to Board functions! It appears your thread has been moved our way.
Just an explanation on the little picture icons... Those are gifts as Cheryllynn said. You can purchase gifts for other cysters (not for yourself)! Be sure to move your cursor over the picture icons to read a msg from the giver. If you want to send a cyster a gift yourself, you may do so by clickin Ribbons & Gifts at the top (where Cheryllynn described) and choosing gift from the menu that appears. There you'll type in the cyster's name, which gift you want (from the drop down list full of cute little icons) and type in a msg to that cyster. Be sure after you submit on the next page that appears you CONFIRM your gift! Otherwise it won't get to your cyster (I've made that mistake before hehe).
If you want to buy a ribbon for yourself to show support for a cause you may do so from that same Ribbons & Gifts menu, and select ribbons from the menu that appears.
Remember that reputation points that you give to other cysters (by clicking the scales on the lower left hand corner of their post) aren't the same as gift points you earn by posting a new thread, replying to a thread, etc.

They represent the reputation points you have received... The more rep points you get, the more green boxes you have.
In order to give reputation points to another cyster, find the scale at bottom left-hand side corner of their post. Its right in between the dot that shows the user's status (green = online & grey = offline or invisible) and the red shield that you can use to report a bad post to a moderator.
Once you hit the scale, a pop-up box will appear in which you can give your cyster positive karma. Comments are optional but a lot of us like to read them.
To read the comments, you can click USER CP at the top of the page and scroll below the gifts and subscribed threads until you see Latest Reputation Points Received. There you'll see how many points you've accumulated and read any comments that have been left for you. Please note tho that you'll only be able to read the last five that have been left for you.
