What time of day do you take your birth control pills and why?
Well, here is my first post. I'm still not sure if I have PCOS...waiting for my ultrasound appt on Friday, but all things are pointing to it. Either way it looks like I'll be starting birth control pills to regulate my body.
I'm wondering what time of day women "normally" take the pill. My Monday through Friday schedule is different than my Saturday and Sunday schedule and I'm trying to figure out a good time.
I take my pill at night, because I was scared of any side effects it could bring. I have my pill box right next to my clock alarm. That way, either myself or my DBF will see it when we're setting the alarm for the night.

I've been on the pill for 20 yrs now (yikes!). I've always taken it at night when I brush my teeth. It sits under my dental floss so I don't forget it. When I was younger and didn't want to get pregnant I was vigilant and probably only forgot it a handful of time in more than 10 yrs. Now that I only take it because of the PCOS (my husband is sterile due to childhood surgery), I get a little lazy sometimes. But I still take it at night with my floss Very important if you're using it for birth control to take it at the same time every day.
I take it as soon as I get up. My schedule can be changeable but it is usually between 7am and 9am that I take it, before my breakfast. This is the best way for me. I have never forgotten a pill in the 7 years I have been on them. I keep my pill packet in my make up bag too, so if there is any chnace I haven't taken it immediately after getting up, I will see it as I get ready for work!!
Some of my friends set pill reminder alarms on their mobile phones!
I couldn't take it at night as I am more likely to be really tired and just go to bed, plus, I am scared of taking it if I have been out for a few drinks or a meal and then get sick - not that I drink excessively, but you know when something doesn't agree with you...lol! So that's why I take it on a relatively empty stomach in the mornings. I don't get any sickness or nausea doing it this way either. xx
I take mine at night. When I started the pill I was 16 and had such a busy life, which meant some mornings I was up at 7am for college, and other days I was up at 2 in the afternoon! So I decided to take it at night as I always went to bed quite late, so it would be more consistant.
My social life may be dismal now, but I'm still in the habit of night time pill taking!

Pure Inositol 3 grams a day (for panic disorder - thrilled to discover it could help with pcos as well)
I also only take mine for the PCOS. I take it at about 1:30 or 2 in the afternoon most days, but occasionally as early as noon. I can't take it at night because I have another med I take then and the Dr told me it would be best not to take them at the same time to make sure both worked correctly as sometimes meds taken together can interfere with absorption. I don't always get up at the same time in the AM (I have a wonderful DH that lets me sleep in whenever possible) so I chose a time I knew I would always be awake and wouldn't interfere with my other meds.

Thank you to all that have posted. It never really dawned on me to take them in the evening. I just found out today that I have PCOS and next week I have another doctor appointment to figure out the next step, which I assume will be BCPs.
I might as well add myself to the list. I'm taking mine at night. I seem to always be home and I don't have to worry about waking up at the same time each day to take it.
