We are in our fourth month of ttc all though we have been trying for over six years, just not medically or this actively. Anyhow I am wondering if anyone can reccomend and supplement, vitamins, herb, anything that I can take to increase my energy level? I am not depressed. I just have an extremley low energy level. Any tips or info will be greatly appreciated. Oh we are not taking the normal medications that help with pcos since we are ttc, so I need an alternative that wont prohibit me from concieveing. I am on a multi vitmain ,zinc 50mg per day, chromium 200mcg, perday.
Thanks,
Melissa

It really depends on the reason for the lack of energy. Anemia is treated very differently from chronic fatigue, for example.
If you go to a licenced naturopath, he or she will be able to help you map the root of the problem, and can then give you options for a solution.
Despite the fact that things like ginseng can boost energy, not all herbs that can do this are good for every condition. You really need to know the cause to find the solution.

Regular exercise is the best and cheapest way to increase energy levels...and also a balanced diet which includes quality protein and low to moderate glycemic carbs which will keep your energy levels constant. In terms of supplements, vitamins and minerals don't really increase energy levels unless you have a deficiency in one of them...but it's still important to supplement with them. In terms of herbs, siberian ginseng, shizandra, ashwagandha and jiaogulan are all very good and for other supplements, alpha lipoic acid combined with acetyl-l-carnitine is very good well as coenzyme Q-10 and omega 3 fatty acids. But I agree with Ajani, many things can cause low energy and it's important to know why you have a lack of energy and get the advice of a qualified naturopath.
Another vote for getting at the root of your low energy...
This past year, I was having a hard time with energy...turns out I had low level allergies, but without the 'stereotypical' symptoms like sneezing and watery eyes.
Fatigue was my main problem...
Once I started allergy meds, the energy came back.
Bottom line, I was blaming my fatigue on PCOS, but it was actually something else...
Good luck to you! It's no fun having low energy.

I have been using Royal Jelly which has worked wonders for me any my usually extremely low energy levels. They sell it in tablets, in a honey mixture, or just pure Royal Jelly (much more expensive). I also take Chromium GTF, 200 mcg.
This really has worked wonders for me. I am one of those people who can sleep for eight hours and wake up feeling like I haven't slept at all, and I used to yawn ALL day long. Now I still have some trouble getting up in the morning, but it has been much better, and I have energy throughout the day. I having been taking both for about a month now.
