yeah they sell witch hazel. my mom has had hemarroids for 20years (since i was born) and had never heard of them either. i'm hoping my baby one doesnt grow any bigger. i think its a result of the painkillers im on for the hernia. they make you constipated. so i stopped taking them - they werent helping anyway.

Now that DD is sitting up and will start crawling in the next couple of months, we bought a new vacuum. I highly recommend taking a long look at the vacuum to see if it's up to the hard work ahead. If not, go ahead and add that to the baby list.

Also, for those who have a vaginal delivery MAKE SURE YOU BRING THE PERI BOTTLE HOME!!! It's a bottle they give you for rinsing after you go to the bathroom. Life saver, I'm telling you.
This is true for vaginal or csec, you will be thankful you took it!

With the peri bottle-ask for additional ones if you have more than one bathroom. We simply asked out discharge nurse for another than she gave us one. Saves you hauling the bottle around the house or getting in to the additional bathroom and realizing you forgot it.

What do the peri bottles do? I guess it doesn't matter as i have been home for a week and haven't needed them! haha...
My baby should be home in a week and i have all the things suggested (well mostly)...except for the bouncy chair. I am going to pick that up this week.

The peri bottle is basically just a squirt bottle to put warm water in to rinse your nether region after going to the bathroom. Rinse and then pat dry. This comes in especially handy if you tore or needed stitches. That way, you're not having to irritate the area every time you wipe.

There was something I didn't see here, we could never use scratch mittens because DD wouldn't keep them on, so we ended up buying anything we could that had fold over mittens on the sleeves to keep her hands covered.

We EBF for 2 months but when I trird to go back to work. My dd wouldn't use just any bottle we tried ervything, we finally figured out she would only take latex I guess because it felt more like skin, we ended up using the playtex drop-ins with laytex nipples.

Wipes ~ If you do end up needing sensitive wipes, walmarts brand parents choice makes unscented sensitive cloth wipes and they are a great deal.

Slings ~ If you can sew they are easy to nake I love mine and I have used it with DD from birth to nurse in public, and I still use it now, like when i get somewhere and she is asleep I can sometimes slip her into the sling without waking her and go on about my business:

I could not do without my angel care monitor. IT has been a lifesaver for me. I am a worry wart and would look at the baby, touch him constantly to make sure he is breathing. Dont have to with this.

I also suggest the sleepers with the ability to cover the hands.

A must have is the Womb Bear. It has a heart beat that sounds like the mommies HB in utero. This is very soothing and I had one for 4 of my 5 children. Especiallly great if they are fussy!

I wanted to add that a changing station and boppy were a lifesaver for me with DD. I have spinal fusion and have chronic back pain, usually in the middle/upper back and shoulders. Not having to bend over to change or feed were crucial. I know a lot of moms say changing stations are a pain, and boppies aren't necessary, but for anyone with chronic back pain, make use of these. I did make sure to get a station with a shelf to the side that I kept wipes and diapers at waist level so I didn't have to bend for even those.

HTH someone,
Andrea

I would highly recommend a plastic cover for the crib mattress. It protects the mattress in case your baby's diaper leaks or if they spit up. They don't cost much and for cleanup all I use is a baby wipe.

I got What to Expect the First Year and like it so far.

Also must-have: batteries! Lots of batteries for bouncy seat, swings, musical soothers, etc.
