I'm just curious what you are all paying for your BCP's. I am on Yasmin and was told that since it was not part of the formulary for my health insurance, I would need to pay $34 a month for the prescription rather than the $12 for my co-payment.
Just wondering what other BCP's cost and what you are all paying? I found a generic RX discount card program and I am trying to evaluate whether it is a good deal or not. They charge $30 a month and you can get your prescriptions for $10 co-pay and $15 co-pay for BCP's. They cover most generic drugs, so for someone with other prescriptions it might be a good deal.
I know they don't cover fertility drugs, anti-depressants, or acne or hair growth medications but it seems like most others are covered. It also covers the family as well.
Just curious....if anything I'll let my grandparents know about it. They pay a fortune for their drugs!
well I don't have insurance so I'm getting mine free for a year through planned parenthood. when I'm back in school and on my parents insurance again this fall it will be a 5 dollar co pay a month through a mail order discount prescription service. I'm lucky I was able to qualify for the free birth control for a year program or else I'd be paying 30 dollars a month at walgreens.

I have insurance through my parents and have to have my doctor send a letter of necessity in order for the insurance to cover them, and I pay $15 a month for Mircette..
I believe I was paying around $25 for them and ins doesn't cover them. But we do have a family planning that you can get condoms from and really cheap pills. But I just found out about that the other day. Although I don't need them since I am ttc and I suppose really didn't need them before since my body doesnt like to o.

I pay $25 for Yasmin. When I took Mircette it was $10 and then they made a generic (Kariva) and it was $5. I miss that.

Tried Ortho-Tri, terrible terrible. Mircette saved my life. Then tried Yasmin which was OK but had some side effects.
Now I'm back on Kariva (generic Mircette) with a low dose of Spiro. Ten bucks a month and I'm in a deliciously good mood.
I took that quiz and I'm Curry Flavored, how cool is that?
I pay $34/mo. for Ovcon 35. Its expensive!! I wish my insurance covered my pills....I don't want to switch because I haven't had any major problems with them!
I pay around $85 for a three month supply of Yasmin on drugstore.com. Using insurance got me nothing, because Yasmin isn't on the all-important formulary, so I pay uninsured price, which is cheaper at the online pharmacy. It's still worth it, IMO!
Living in a Public Health Insurance country (Slovenia) all BCPs are free. There were some talks about putting them on middle list and you would have to pay like 1/4 of the value. Thanks God that didn't pass! It's bad enough you have to pay for like every cold medicine no matter if prescribed or not.

I actually pay $7 for a 3 month supply of Ortho Cyclen... it's the same price I was paying for Ortho Tri Cyclen (our prescription price just went from $5-7 three months ago). I am still on my parents insurance since I'm a student.

I am paying $33. My insurance does not cover birth control pills at all - BUT I had the doctor write up a note that explains it is to control menstral irregularity and PCOS and they are now covering it. Maybe you can do something similar?

MAN OH MAN! Wehn I was on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen, my co-pay was $7.50. I think the pills are somewhere around $24 for the full retail price. I've since been switched over to Ovcon-50. Well... the retail price is $35 a month. Guess what my co-pay is? $30!!!!!!!!!!!! Is that some caca or what?
Originally I was put on Ortho-tricyclen-lo and insurance had it on "3rd tier" so basically I would have to pay $39/month for it. Luckily, I called planned parenthood. They sell a wide variety of pills for $18 a pack! I went there for a consultation and they gave me the pills (since they're not a freestanding pharmacy). Unfortunately I had problems with them so I want to try Yasmin and planned parenthood does not have those. The co-pay for that one is Tier 2 which makes it $25. There are quite a few on the tier 1 $10 co-pay and I debated, but I really want to give Yasmin a try.
