Default What is your basal body temp?

First half of my cycle it is about 97.1 it is higher for a little while after in the leutal phase (though it won't stay high for the 14 days like it should). Just wondering what you ladies typically experience for resting body temp?

Diagnosed with PCOS in 2002. Some cysts and high DHEAS. Was on BCP for 7 years (I adore yasmin). Now I am on no medication becasue I want ttc.

I recently started taking vitamins: A, D, B Complex, Folic Acid and Fish Oil

I also aim for a very low sugar and almost no simple carb diet. I run a couple times a week.

Question

Hi Pink! I just started to chart my BBT this month and halfway into my cycle but I am very very confused about it. I started charting on the 15th and went from 97.2, 97.2, 96.5, 96.4 to 96.2 back to 96.8, 96.5, 96.8, 96.7, all the way down to 96.2 on Saturday morning...climbed a tenth everyday until yesterday went back down one to 96.5 and big jump this morning to 96.9...so..lol! I am very confused. I am sure it is going to take me a good couple of months of doing this to really get it and understand what my body is doing.

I am taking a supplement called Pro-creation, I just began taking it Monday so I don't know if it is in my system enough yet to make any difference. It does contain a small amount of Vitex. I am currently on day 29 of my cycle, and my cycle lengths are never the same, sometimes 30 days and sometimes others, they fluctuate alot.

Hi! It is sort of fun, I think collecting data - it makes me feel more in control. I am on month 3 and now and this is when I see the pattern. If you type basal body temperature chart into google and look at the images they are all different. Everybody is different so you just need to collect more data to get an accurate picture of what is normal for you.

Basically look for a higher second half of the cycle on average than the first half. THere may be some oddball numbers in there too. But I think it is good you are charting. I think it is very useful in my case. If anythign I know when I am goign to get my period because it drops after beign high for a couple weeks.

I thought maybe I could count on mine to let me know when AF was getting close, but I understand I don't have enough time in on the charting...lol! I am just impatient! I found it strange that my temp dropped really low and now climbing slowly again, then a pretty significant jump today...hmmmm.

That happened to me, the slow climb in the middle of the month them finally a jump.

Here is how I interpret that. The LH surge is longer in me it tests as a surge all through the slow climb which I assume to mean the egg is having a hard time getting out of the starting gate. PCOS women often have high LH which may confuse the issue. Also PCOS women often have low progesterone which apparently is needed for hte second half to keep the temperature up.

It shoudl stay high now for two weeks at least 10 days, hopefully more. Mine doen't stay longer than ten days so I got a progestoerone cream to help it stay up after the shift in temperature. I don't know if it works and I think once we have a good amount of charts to see what is really going on then we can hopefully fix what is at teh bottom of hte low progesterone, short luetal phase ect. rather than jsut patch it together. Maybe it is poor egg quality. I am sure it is all PCOS related.

However I also believe it is still possible to get pregnant, something is clearly happening. And when the temp goes up int eh second half it is a real good sign you ovulated.

I'm starting to suspect a thyroid condition, partially because my BBT hasn't gotten out of the 96s. I've only been temping for a month but I've ranged from 96.1 to 96.9. From what I understand a low bbt is a strong sign that somethings up with your thyroid?
