My Mood: Points: 24,262.25 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 24,262.25 | what is your dosage? Hi ladies! Well i have an appt next week for my pap and hopefully to get back on met! I am going to a new obgyn so not sure what they will say! with that said when we were trying to get prego we went to the endo and she's the one that put me on 1500g of met but i'm not sure if that did anything, all i know is that it didn't help with my periods, and i did not have any side effects and as far as the hormone levels I think she said it did change them a little bit! so i was just wondering if i should have been on 2000g.....so anyway just wanted to know what your starting dosage was and what your current dosage is if you are on met, and how it has helped you!! thx

Points: 36,246.01 Bank: 3,348,243.84 Total Points: 3,384,489.85 | I was on 1500 mg from Aug 2001 until June 2005. I hit my lowest weight (down 60 pounds) and several months later found I was having a lot of hypoglycemic episodes. My Dr says that because of the amount that I exercise (I run and did a half marathon, two 10k's and a mountain 12K this summer) and because I was following the IR diet to control my insulin, I didn't require that high a dose anymore. Now I am at 1000 mg daily and it's working well.
The max reccommended dose is 2550 mg per day, so you may need to talk to your Dr about a higher dose. It is a pretty individual thing depending on the severity of your IR.
Also, if you can eat to control your insulin, the meds will work more efficiently. I was on 1500 for over a year and frustrated at my progress. My male hormones were still too high and my periods were so irrgukar still. When I added IR diet it was like a new drug because what I ate wasn't counter-acting it anymore.
Hope it helps!

My hormone levels are all normal though, so I don't know how high of a dose I will require.
