So my doctor prescribed Flutamide if I promised to go every month to get my liver enzymes checked.
When I looked briefly at the script that she gave me, I thought it said 125 mg. But I filled my prescription today, and my dose is two 125 mg pills every eight hours.
So, I figured I'd take them at 7 a.m., 2 p.m, and 9 p.m. But that dose works out to be like 750 mg a day. That seems awfully high to me.
What is your dose of Flutamide? Is it about the same?

Weight Stats: Original: 234, Current: 226, Short/Long Term Goals: 200/130
Exercise: 600 monthy minutes of WiiFit (601 in July so far)

That is very high indeed i am on just one 125 mg dose a day ! she seems to have prescribed you the dose a man with prostate cancer would have !! I would check this with her

I am on 250mg a day - it is just one tablet. So maybe you are only supposed to take it morning and night. Does it make you poorly at all? Mine makes me feel so bad :-(

My bottle has 180 - 125mg pills. The directions say to take 2 pills every 8 hours which turns out to be like 750 mg. I really don't want to start at that high of a dose.
I'm going to call her today and double check that the prescription is correct.
Okay, just got off the phone with doc's office and it was dispensed as written. Yikes. I really don't want to start out that high.
I just checked the research articles that Kat posted about flutamide and their studies had the doses at 250 mg twice a day so a total of 500.
I think I'll take two 125 mg pills in the a.m. and two more in the p.m., that way I'm only doing 500 mg a day. I'll increase it down the road if I need to.

Good luck with it Hezzer!
I noticed my boobs hurt more close to AF, urine discolouration (no biggie as long as it is not a symtom of something more serious), my diarrhea worsened, increased sweating (nice!) and put on 12lbs (Noooooooo!!!) so just keep an eye on things and report anything unusual to your doc.

So how is this Flutamide working out for you ladies as far as hair loss goes?? I'm curious because I want try it but don't want to risk the side effects if it isn't any good!! | |

My shedding has reduced significantly but I am not regrowign hair ....
As for side effects I find if I take the tablet at night I dont feel so ill it initially made me feel exhuasted, my wee is also bright green and I have doubled in cup size for my boobs .. I also have gained some weight which upsets me .. but what to do lose al lmy hair have a beard and a good figure or keep my hair and get fat !! its SO unfair

yes it is so unfair. i hate pco and im jealous to the women who dont have it.
its strange my gyno.doc said i would loose weight with flutamide. how comes that a lot are gaining weight? he said all his patient did loose weight because of flutamide and they are only on flutamide. | |

Today I am having a lazy one at home as am really tired and headachey, the thought of putting on a bra fills me with dread. I swear my boobs have increased and they ache so much. I try and think 'yay bright green/neon yellow wee somethings working' but I have no idea if it is. However, I noticed I woke up today without a full face of stubble. Not sure if its my niffy new man's razor or something more significant.
Putting on weight is so soul destroying, I feel so depressed. The endo asked me a week ago - what do you hate more the weight or facial hair?
Who can answer that???

I still haven't started taking mine yet. This week is our busiest week of the semester and I can't afford to start taking it and feeling really sick.
So I'll start on either Friday or Saturday taking 125 mg in the morning and 125 mg in the evening. | |
