After just getting my labs back, my endo bumped up my synthroid again. I am a bit miffed that I need to take 2 separate prescriptions of Synthroid now. I take 200mcg an 50 mcg every day. I was even more miffed when I found out they make a 300mcg pill and then I would only have to pay for one script per month! Anyways, prior to this my TSH was at a 5 and my endo wants it between .3 and 3. Just out of curiosity, how high of a dose does everyone take? I guess I never realized that I actually was on quite a high dose.

I've been taking 50mcg for about 5 weeks. My TSH has dropped from 4.7 to 1.3 in 4 weeks.

Well, I take llevoxyl and I started off at .025... I started that 6 years ago. It was increased to .05 shortly thereafter and I stayed at that for a LONG time.. then in the past year I can't seem to keep my levels normal. I started taking .125 after TSH came back at a 18!!! Now I just got it rechecked and it's back to .04 which is on the hyper side- which I like! I always seem to fluxuate and I went off of it for about 3 months and it stayed normal (go figure) so they thought it was misdiagnosed, then the next month it skyrocketed!

I have been on Levoxyl over a year my current dosage is 75mg a day 3 days a week and 50mg a day the other 4. At my last Endo visit Doc said my levels were good enough to keep it at the same dosage for a while.

I'm now taking 75mcg. In a matter of a week my TSH went from 1.3 to 2.4
Apparently it's normal for it to be absorbed really well in the begining and then not as well after a month or so.

It is.....not sure what your question is.
My TSH was 1.3 (from 4.7) after I'd been on Synthroid for 4 weeks. After 6 weeks, it crept up to 2.4. As a result, my Synthroid was increased to 75mcg.

Oh, I thought you were saying that in the first week you started taking the Synthroid your TSH went up. That sounded bad to me
I take 25mcg & 50mcg every other day.
There is a requisition in my car that needs to be filled for more blood work to see if my dosage needs to be increased.

Hi Meg Pie, this is my first post ever. Anyway I have been lurking through all the message boards and I just had to answer your question. I was dx with hypothyroidism when I was 13yrs old. I have been on Synthroid/Levothyroxine ever since. 2006 dx with hashimoto's, first Dr. to ever look in to why I was hypo. I am on 250mcg a day also. I also take it by two different pills with two prescriptions. You are the first person I have ever talked to that took as high a dose as I do. I have known a few people on 175mcg, never 250mcg.
Also, hello to everyone else out there with pcos/ hypothyroidism or both.

Today, my dose got increased to 100mcg. I have a friend who takes 200mcg plus a half of one pill once a week. She's concerned that she's on such a high dose, too.

I have been taking 150mcg since Sept. '06, and that finally worked for me, brought me down from TSH of 9 to 2.79-2.73 and has been staying at that level ever since. I won't be getting labs done again until June, when we'll be rechecking my Cholesterol levels as well, hopefully they have improved!?! It took a long time to get to this point - TSH would go down to 8, then back up to 12, then down to 9 - sooo frustrating and the entire time I was feeling terrible-the worst was the achy hips & shoulders, carpel tunnel, and plantars faciitis! I am so glad all those problems have gone away, but I am still pretty fatigued a lot of the time. I do get bursts of energy & that's nice - I just wish they would stay with me 24/7(well except @ bedtime!!)!!! Take care everyone!!!
