Ive been on Thyroxine since I was around 13.
I never used to take my pills correctly, even up until January of this year.
I became diabetic and am on medications, so I started taking my Throxine every day without fail.
I was on 250McG but taking it perfectly, I was getting VERY bad palpitations etc
I was recently reduced to 150McG.
Time will tell if its too big a drop, but Im not getting the speeding heart any more, which is an awesome thing.
Oh yes, Im on Levothyroxine.

I have been on synthroid for 10 years. I have been on many different doses over the years. In the past year I went from 125mcg and I am currently taking 200mcg. While I was going through my fertility treatments my RE would like to keep my tsh below one. I was taking 125 and 150 every other day. When I became pregnant my tsh was a 9 so he had me take just 175 a day. (he also sent me right to the endo) after one month on 175 my tsh went to 3.2. Two months later (this past month) the endo increased me to 200mc because my tsh was 4 and she prefers it to be below 3 during pregnancy. My endo also said once I deliver my baby my dose will probably decrease

I just got bumped up to 100mcg. My TSH went from 7.05 to 4.2 on 50/day, and then back up to 7.2 on 75/day, so now it's 100. The nurse who called to tell me said that it's normal for it to bounce around a little while we're figuring out the dosage -- hope she's right!

Janie, it is very normal for your TSH to bounce around until you get the correct dose. It stinks that it can take so long to figure it out, but once you are on the correct dose, you'll feel so much better! Hang in there!

Thank you for responding! I have to admit that it worried me when my TSH was higher after all these months on levo than it was before. Hopefully this dose is the one that will do the trick.

This is my first post on the boards. Hello to everyone! I have been dx w/ PCOS and Hashimotos (hypothyroid) for 14 years. My dosage back then was 88 mcg. Through the years, the dr. has increased my dosage. I am now taking 250 mcg. of Synthroid. I also take 1,000 mg. of Gluc XR. Btw, my dr. wrote my Synthroid rx as "Take 2 tablets of 125 mg daily." This allows me to get it for 1 copay, instead of 2. It is for 30 tablets, plus 1 refill. Hope to get to know everyone!

I've been on 125mcg of Synthroid for about five months now and have been taking Synthroid for about four years. I'm not happy at all with this dosage, and although my levels were within normal range last I checked, I can seriously feel that something's off (I blame the BCP). Also, considering that I had my thyroid removed, I think I could go quite a bit higher than what I'm taking now.

Hello,

I was just dx with hypothyroidism and was prescribed 0.05mg/day. Last week my TSH was 6.56. As you will see in my siggy I'm ttc and have been for 2years. In the last 7 months I've had 2 m/c. Following the 2nd m/c my ob ran some RPL tests, which revealed an elevated TSH (5.7). At first I was devastated by this news b/c I was supposed to start ttc again (had been on a 2month bcp break following the m/c in March) with af's arrival this week, but now won't be doing that. My RE said he'll check my levels in 6wks to see if they've normalized. If not, he'll change the dose and wait another 6wks. I'm really hoping that my levels normalize in the next 6wks, so I can get back to ttc. After 2 years of ttc I'm getting very impatient! I'm really hopeful that we finally found the last piece of the puzzle and that I finally get a sticky bfp!!

During the next 6 wks I'm to continue to take my Yasmin bcp, which my RE has me use to "quiet" my ovaries (keep the big cysts away) and keep my LH levels down. My good pal Kinnie told me that estrogen-based bcp aren't supposed to be used with synthroid, so I'm a little worried. I'm going to talk to RE about using a POP bcp instead, but know that my RE likes to use Yasmin with PCOS. Anyone else use bcp with synthroid? Any thoughts and/or suggestions?

Cheers,
Niki

Taking BCP with Synthroid should not be posing a problem for you. I did it for many, many years! Sometimes your Synthroid does does need to be adjusted after starting BCP though.

If you do have any concerns, talk to your doctor. S/he should be able to ease your concerns!

Have a great day!
Cynthia

I'm currently taking 112 mcg of Levothyroxine. It's been a while since I've had labs done and I'm REALLY bad at remembering to take my pills but I've been good for a while...it's just a matter of forming that habit. I should have labs done soon as I have been starting to feel really fatigued and sick again. The last time I had labs done my TSH was up around 7ish and prior to that it was 14. I'm hoping to get leveled out really soon because we are hoping to have a baby soon.

After my 2nd last lab my TSH was 3.65 and so instead of alternating doses every other day I was put on straight 50mcg everyday. This past Monday after arguing with the lab tech that I have an open ended requisition I was able to get my TSH tested again. Tuesday I got the latest result of 2.08. I will be going again at the begining of next month to see if it is fairly stable or if my dose will be increased.

I've always had problems with BCP interfering with my levels, so it's not really anything new for me. I've also been on BCP on and off for a few years, which I guess is the problem, having to readjust my meds every time I have to change my BCP. But thanks for the advice, mommavia!

I have been on 88mcg of synthroid for a yr now,my hubby lost his job in January this yr and all of our benefits are gone. so i had to get my endo to prescribe me the generic version of synthroid ,she didn't want to but because of my hubby out of work she did anyway i got the prescription filled at walmart on the generic program so i can get it for $4.00 my question is ...has anyone ever went from taking name brand synthroid to a generic and if so have you noticed a difference on it far as the levels go and the way you feel?

I'm currently taking .88mcg Synthroid everyday, but after having my levels checked, they have me taking 1 extra pill each week.
