I started 3 years ago on 50mg of Thyroxine then moved to 75mg after 6 months, then I had an early M/C and i was upped to 100mg which I have stayed at now for about 2 years. Blood test every year has confirmed this is a good dose for me and although there are days when I feel very tired, on the whole as long as I don't want to actually sleep during the day I know I am much better than I was before I was diagnosed.

I take .88 mcg of levoxyl, my doctor says things look good for now. But honestly I don't even notice the difference it's just shown a change with my blood work.
I had a hard time getting my regular doc and my GYN to treat my thyroid issues. I have been boarder line since I was a teenager. When I finally got to an endo who wanted to treat my PCOS, he also decided to treat my thyroid due to a strong family history, (my 2 aunts, grandmother, her sisters, and grandmothers).
I started on .025 mg, but after 4 months, my periods stopped again and we found that my levels had fallen to lower than there were when I first started the meds. I was bumped to .100 mg. I go back to the doc this week, so I'll see how things are going.

I've accepted fate and know I will never carry a child of my own.
I am on Levothyroxine... I have to take 25 mg during the week and 50 mg during the weekends. I have not been very good about taking either... I should start.
I've been taking 50mcg for abot 5 months. When I went back for a checkup w/ my endo, my ths had gone from a 12.4 to a 3.4.

Hi, 36 yr old male here. I was diagnosed 10 yrs ago, didnt take it seriously cause I didnt understand it and my endo at the time couldnt spare the time to explain it, so Fast forward 10 yrs and umpteen dosage changes later and I have just been adjusted to .200 and .025 once a day each. I am told it is a high dose, but I still can't get anyone to explain it in terms I can grasp.
oh, I should add, tired all the time, forgetful, achy, the whole nine yards. Even my wife gets frustrated by it. I also tend to now get every cold I may come into contact with. I have to ask my new endo about that later today....
I started on 50mcg of Levoxyl with a TSH of 7.613. After 5 weeks, my TSH had dropped to 3.149. At 6 weeks, my symptoms were coming back strong so I knew I needed an increase and my GP raised me to 75mcg. I have good days and bad days...mostly bad. I'm hoping this stuff starts helping consistently soon
I'm taking 75mcg(.075 mg) and started yesterday. Question: by taking it 2-3 hrs after breakfast, when do you have lunch? My level is currently 5.7, never been on thyroid before.

Hi guy. I'm new here and want to know if you think more girls than guys get thyroid stuff. I have a male friend who takes Synthroid and he's near 60. Don't know how long he's been taking it. Jan
I now take 125 mcg and it took almost a year to get that right. Janny did you try taking the synthroid 2 hrs. before you eat breakfast? That might help. You could also just do what you said and take it 2 hrs. after breakfast then wait another 2 for lunch.
Rainbow Brite: Have you tried Synthroid instead of Levoxyl? I've read that Sythroid users have fewer changes in their levels once they're on it for awhile. Pharmacist always try to push the generic, and yeah it’s cheaper, but I’ve been on Synthroid for 3 years now and I haven’t had any probs. When I first started taking it, we had to change the dosage a couple times, and I also had to go up to .112 while I was pregnant (but that’s normal). If things don’t start getting more consistent you should think about changing over.
Janny: You should take your meds at least 30-45 mins. before you eat breakfast (or you could take it 30-40 mins after). Not sure why you were told you had to wait 2-3 hours. The reason you have to wait is because calcium cancels out the dosage; so for example, if you drink coffee (with cream or milk), or have cereal etc. it will cancel out your dosage. 30-40 mins should be plenty of time, but ask your doc. just to be sure.
