Just curious what fellow cysters TSH numbers look like, normal or abnormal.
There seems to be such a wide range of normal, disagreements about what a normal range is, and those who are symptomatic depite falling within the normal range. I also read somewhere that it's believed that up to 40% of women with PCOS also have a thyroid abnormality. Just curious what the women here are experiencing.
For those who care to elaberate:
If normal, do you feel you may have hypothyroid symptoms anyway? What are they?
If abnormal (or "normal") and corrected with meds, what was your beginning TSH and at what level did you feel ok again?
Thanks!

Not too sure what my TSH level is, but I do know that blood work that I had done in dec showed that I had a high level, which could indicate that my thyroid is becoming under-active. This happened to me about 3 years ago, I had a high TSH but my dr said that soetimes it does this and that hopefully the repeat test would be normal, which thankfully it was. I am getting over 2 viruses and she said that they could have had an effect on my TSH... am waiting for the results of the latest blood work to see if it has changed or is still high. I have found though that I feel like my throat has got thicker, by that I mean that if put my fingers either side of my adams apple area it feels thicker than normal.. don't know why but it's something I noticed..lol

when I was first dx in 1999 my TSH was 15.36 and it took forever and I mean forever to get me regulated,(I got regulated by taking 1.50mcg on one day and alternating 1.75mcg the next day and I do this back and forth, it works for me) I finally found a Dr willing to work with me based on how I feel and not necessarily my TSH my last TSH was taken in Oct 2005 and I was down to 0.01 and I have never and I mean never felt as good as I do at that level.
My 3 yr old dd is Hypothyroid as well and she just had her TSH checked and she is at 3.50 and I believe she needs her meds raised she is taking .25mcg, I also had my 18 mth old checked and her thyroid was 3.30 which I believe makes her hypothyroid too, but will have to talk to my 3 yr olds Endo and see what he thinks. I can always tell when my levels are getting off, as my heart starts beating like its skipping beats and I get very tried and very B!tchy, so that is when I go have my levels checked but the lower my TSH is the better I feel.

Mine is 2.58 with meds. I have hashimotos. I don't really feel any different.

My last one was 0.53. My labs say that hypothyroid is greater than 4.0 and hyperthyroid is less than 0.1.
I have often thought of myself as having symptoms of hypothyroid, especially since it runs in my family. Despite this, every thyroid test has come back fine. I know that if you suspect that your results are wrong, you can request additional tests to shed light on your thyroid like monitoring your temps (very low can be a sign of hypothyroid) at certain times.

Mine is 3.3 and I have almost all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. I finally got my doctor to approve a full thyroid work-up. I'm hoping this will be my answer to finally feeling better.

My last TSH was 4.67. I take 60 mg. Armour daily, and my Dr. said that it was perfect!
My gyn. threw a fit, and now I see an endo. next week, and meanwhile, I'm shopping for a new PCP. That is, when I can stay awake long enough to dial the phone
Mine was around 11 (10.87 I think?) when I started taking synthroid about two months ago. Last they checked, it was down to 5 or so. They're still trying to adjust my meds.

I was on 50 mcg levoxyl and was retested in July..My TSH was up to 7.5 and they upped my meds to 125 mcg. Got it tested 2 weeks ago and it was back to under 3 I believe. I'm always tired so I can't tell if that's from the thyroid or not!

My RE finally got my tsh back around 2, but I still felt symptoms. Just last month he took me from 175 Levothroid to 150 and added 25 of Cytomel. Cytomel is an old drug that was replaced by the synthetic version - Synthroid. My DH did research and asked the dr about it and he was willing to allow me to try it out.
6 weeks into it and my hair has stopped falling out (has been happening for 2 yrs now) and my skin is better.
Adding Cytomel doesn't help everyone though and my dr said I am one in only 3 of his patients that take it.
At my last test, it was 5.74. I was on 75mcg of synthroid and the doctor said that I was the "high side of normal." I think that I'll be searching for a new endo. I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.
I hate doctors!
