Angela,
I just came accross your post. PCOS has been linked w/ IR(insulin resistance) which your body doesn't use insulin correctly and to compensate your body keeps producing more and more insulin leaving an abundance of it in your system. Insulin effects or is effected by hormones and they all work together. Therefore your hormones get all out of whack if IR goes untreated. But not all women w/ PCOS have IR. If IR goes on for a long period of time the pancreas (where insulin is produced) finally gives out and TypeII diabetes develops. Being that your body now only doesn't produce very much insulin and the insulin it does produce is not used correctly.
There are some articles under the research links that explain the answer to your quesiton better than I have. I just wanted to respond to your question.
Hope this makes sense.
