Default Whats the longest that you've bled for?

I've been bleeding since 7/20 nonstop. I have an appointment with a new doctor on Tuesday. He specializes in dysfunctional uterine bleeding and has conducted many studies- hopefully he'll have some answers. Just wondering if I'm the only one who has this problem?

Longest I bled was from June 2004 to the end of September 2004. So almost 4 months. In the end I was put on the pill, had a biopsy, a D&C and this other thing and it eventually stopped. (However I had to go to another gyno to get the PCOS diagnosis)

If you're tired you're probably anemic and need to take some iron pills. If you can't stomach them (I couldn't) you will want to eat raisins and spinach and other high iron foods. This will help a bunch.

I've been bleeding since May! I will go for weeks straight bleeding, then not bleed for a week, then start up again. Sometimes it's brown spotting, sometimes light red, sometimes big clots.

I just had a biopsy done and sono. Thank God they were normal. I was told to watch the bleeding for 2-4 weeks and then we will decide what to do.

The longest I ever bled was from May 1997-Sept 1997. Got on birth control and in May 1998 I found out I was pregnant.

Well, if very light bleeding counts....I've been bleeding almost non-stop since......er.......since......maybe March? Although it seems to have stopped just today. (I just hope it stays that way for longer than just a day or two...which is usually what happens.)

I seem to recall quite a while ago that I had almost non-stop bleeding for a year or two.

hmmm... man.. longest I ever had was 4 weeks.. heavy heavy dark clotted blood. I ended up in A&E convinced I was going to die or something. Anyway, turns out it was the combined effect of going off the pill and the idiot doctors giving me progesterone (!!!??) to help.

I have to ask, if you've all been bleeding this long why the hell haven't you been admitted to a specialist!? I'd be screaming at my doctors, I mean seriously.
Could be hormonal, could be a sign of well.. just about anything. Hope you find your answers soon!

For such prolonged bleeding, I would ask for an ultrasound. I had one when I was 13 because I was bleeding very heavily for a long time and they found out I had a large cyst on my ovary which was haemorraghing and I had removed in surgery.

Never happened to me, but my sister had a miscarriage earlier this year and then bled for about 7 weeks. She skipped her follow-up appointment right after she found out about the miscarriage, and months later the dr. told her that if she had made that appointment, she could have had a D&C and wouldn't have bled all that time.

First miscarriage in the family so nobody knew.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one here who has had this problem. I've been dealing with these 2+ month bleeds now for over a year and have been to many doctors. By now I'm thinking that there isn't any blood left in my body! I did have an ultrasound a few months ago at a gyns office and they said that they didn't see anything (including cysts). Come to find out when my regular doctor requested the records from them they did not do the ultrasound properly and "forgot" to do certain things like measure the endometrial lining etc. The report actually said " I FORGOT". So my regular doctor wanted me to go in for a transvaginal ultrasound, but they won't do it while I'm bleeding. I finally took matters into my own hands and made an appt. with this specialist. I hate the idea of seeing a male doctor for this (yeah I'm weird that way) but since this is his area of expertise and I'm desperate for answers, I am going to do it. It was amazing that I was even able to get an appt this soon as when I called they said that he was booked until January and then they asked me what I wanted to see him for and she took pitty on me and told me that she would call me if she got any cancellations. I didn't really think that she would, but she did! So, I'm crossing my fingers that he lives up to my expectations and can provide some answers and solutions.

I bled/spotted from 22nd March to 23rd May 2007 non-stop with maybe a day or two of no spots. Then I went to my gyno and she prescribed a med which stopped my bleeding and regulated for one month and then uit started again on July 9th and I've been bleeding ever since. Its October 7th now and its almost 7 months or more with maybe around one month of rest in between.

Wow I didn't realise its been so long I saw a doc again. Got to make an appointment.
