Question Whats the point?

I got a new persciption for Met. today. I asked my doctor about getting the XR because I have a hard time remembering to take pills. He gave me the XR but the bottle still says to take 1 at a time throughout the day. Can I still go ahead and take them all at one time(working my way from 1-3). Thanks.

Amy

If I understood your post right, you have just begun taking the met. You have to work up to your full dosage gradually...this helps to ease some of the side effects that many of us have, like stomach upset. With XR, that version is time released, so once you reach your full dose, you can take it all at once. With regular met, you'll have to space it out thru the day to keep the medication level more constant.

My bottle says the same thing, but I asked about it and was told that I could take them at the same time. I had no problems.

But then again I have no S/E from Met either.
