But my doctor thought that was really weird, and rare. You have some spiro equivalent in your YAZ already though--supposedly about 25 mg.
Hi, can you elaborate on the decrease in dhea? is it that it lowered dhea or dheas? cant find a lot of info on dheas lowering so any help would be appreciated. It's funny that I too lost a ton of weight on spiro, too much i fact and my doc said that weight loss was not a side effect, but it was for me.

I'm going to share my experience with spiro now I've been on it for almost a year. I've been on 75mg for most of the time and increased to 100mg (to sort out the occasional face breakouts);

- My hirsutism was mild to begin with but my leg hair is much fluffier; so is bikini line hair etc. Body hair grows back slowly.

- My acne was pretty severe body acne and is now very clear. I do still get facial spots but my chest, arms and back were completely cleared up even on 75mg. I can go swimming now and wear things I never thought I'd be able to.

- I lost the extra few lbs that I had gained and am back to the same size I was when I was a teenager. YAY! I can wear all my old clothes! My waist is smaller than it has ever been.

- It does dampen my appetite, especially when I increase the dose, although it comes back after a couple of months

-I get tired on it

- My doctor gives me blood tests for liver and kidney function as well as potassium levels every two months so I feel like I'm being looked after well.

-My blood pressure has gone lower

- I do have one weird side effect which is facial peach fuzz.I never used to have this and it started suddenly when I increased to 100mg. It's very strange, and I have random long fluffy white hairs sprouting out my chin and cheeks. They are so fluffy and white that I just trim them down with a beard trimmer every couple of weeks and you can't see the evidence. I'm not sure I've heard of this side effect before.

Overall I LOVE sprio and it's amazing to have my body back to pre pcos shape and size again! I want to be on it forever and just hope it remains effective and doesn't suddenly stop working or anything like that. That would be awful

I finally got the nerve to ask my doctor and she was very cool about it! I just filled my prescription for spiro. I am hoping I will have successes to report back!

Have any of you noticed any effects on your emotions/mood? (positive or negative)

I hope you have good results on Spiro

I haven't noticed any changes in mood. I was concerned that I might because I have clinical depression and an anxiety disorder, but it didn't seem to change my moods at all. One thing I do have is no sex drive, and I mean none at all. But whether this is the sprio or due to having been on Lexapro (which killed my sex drive initially), I don't know.
