Default wheat germ oil?

Hi -

has anyone tried wheat oil / wheat germ oil? High in antioxidants and vit-E, it may help with ovulation - also men should take it.

This being my last natural cycle before beginning the IVF - I think I'll invest in it I believe it does no harm to take it even during the IVF procedure.

As far as I know, flaxseed oil is a very similar product.

Nylon --

I would take flax instead, since it contains a much higher level of omega 3 fats in addition to the vitamins and anti-oxidants. Fish oil is also good to take if you want to get pregnant. It won't help your cyle much but Cysters tend to be deficient in Vitamin D which is in Cod Liver Oil.

My naturopath put me on 1 tbsp ground flax seed a day to help cleanse my bowel. That in turn is supposed to help your liver by taking stress off of it, which then eventually helps your hormones, since hormones are broken down and processed in the liver (so if your liver is overloaded and can't break down hormones they would recirculate and cause problems, I think, but I'm not sure exactly).

I can't say if all of this helped my cycles because I was on BCP until recently (NO MORE, I've decided), but I am susceptible to depression and I think this helps with that (cause of the omega 3s).

Default Thanks and Q!

Hi Simone,

thanks for the suggestion! I actually have a bag of flaxseed at home, I use them sometimes when I make a dough for bread.

Do you soak the seeds before (for how long time?) and then you grind them? They turn pretty "slimy" after soaking, eh? Do you also take the oil?

About the flaxseed oil, do you take capsules or just oil?

Thanks if you have time to answer again!

The way I'm taking the flax now, I just grind it in a coffee grinder and sprinkle it on yogurt (no soaking). I'm taking 1 tablespoon per day. You can eat it plain, but grinding makes it easier to digest and helps you to get out all the nutrients.

You can take flax oil plain or in capsules but make sure that it says "propeller expressed" so there is no heat used in the processing. Keep all flax in the fridge so it doesn't go rancid. There are other threads on flax, if you do a search in this forum.

Thanks a bunch again, Simone!

I bought the flaxseed oil (cold pressed) and took first tsb yesterday. And cheers for the grinding info, I'll do that
