Default Wheat pasta?

I have a question.
Does wheat pasta taste different from regualar pasta?

I bought wheat pancake mix once, and that was the nastiest stuff I've ever had..
Trying to eat different and was wondering about the wheat pasta or wheat products in general.
Thanks

Whole wheat pasta tastes pretty much like the regular stuff -- but costs twice as much. However, since it's better for us, I've been buying it all the time. However, I'm having a harder time converting to brown rice.

I love whole wheat pasta... it does have a little grainier texture, but its so good.

I use whole wheat lasagne noodles and my husband couldnt tell the difference.

Cool, glad to hear you really can't tell the difference.
Because I sure could tell a difference with that pancake mix.
Brown rice isn't too bad. It takes forever to cook, and does have a different texture to it.
I guess our health is worth paying double for what we need to eat...

Actually, to me it does taste a bit different, but that's OK. My husband actually prefers whole wheat pasta, so it all depends on your personal taste. We also have whole wheat flour & sometimes make pancakes from scratch. They come out really yummy!

hi -- i've converted myself and my husband to the whole wheat pasta. we like the spaghetti. we've never been able to get into the rigatoni or macaroni. to us, the thinker pasta shapes are kinda like wet cardboard. also, i don't think it is as good warmed up as leftovers. just my opinion, though.

the way i made the transition to brown rice is by starting with the brown minute rice... then i went to the kind that takes so long to cook.

for me, the hardest thing to deal with is giving up potatoes.... when i started the whole low carb thing, i was sure that cookies would be the hardest thing to give up. but actually, when i do splurge on carbs it's always potatoes!

I actually would much rather have fresh wheat pasta. It is so good and you don't get the cardboard taste. I have had macaroni, lasagne noodles and speghetti It all tastes great to me.

I only buy wheat pasta. Our favorite is the angel hair pasta. We like it and I can't tell much difference in the taste. I make macaroni and cheese with whole wheat macaroni and my husband can't even tell the difference.

I can't tell a difference, but DH can tell the texture is a little firmer.

Wheat pasta isn't that much more expensive. Buy a couple of different brands and see which one you guys like better.

I find wheat pasta more filling so you don't need as much. I just made a pasta salad last night with wheat pasta, tomatoes, green pepper, chicken, balsamic vinegar dressing and parmesan cheese... it was yummy!

If you soak brown rice for a while, it isn't as gritty and tough after it's cooked.

My husband is very picky when it comes to food and he couldn't tell a difference between wheat and regular pasta.

I'm so glad to hear you really can't tell a differance. After those wheat pancakes, my DH refused anything wheat. Except bread. So I'm just gonna sneak it in, and hopefully he won't notice.
That's a good idea about soaking the brown rice.
