Default When is the best time to start Metformin?

I am getting ready to start taking Metformin instead of the pill to regulate my periods. My question is this, I am just getting ready to finish my period this month and want to know when to start taking the metformin or does it matter?

I started mine the day I got it, and it didn't seem to make any difference in my cycle!

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I don't think it really matters what day you start.

Default metformin start

my doc told me to start it asap..........so I did, regardless of what point I was in my cycle.......but then, my cycles have been regular since before I started the met.

Since Metformin affects insulin resistance and not estrogen, progesterone, or any of the other hormones related to menstruation and ovulation, go ahead and start it as soon as you have the pills in hand. It's kind of a domino effect: Metformin makes your body more responsive to insulin, your body makes less insulin because what it has is doing the job, the lower levels of insulin let your estrogen-related hormones get back to normal and do their thing.

Theres no harm in starting it as soon as you get it.

Many women use met while on the BCP.

Good luck with it!
