Default When is D&C necessary

Dear fellow sisters, I have a question regarding at what point in pregnancy is D&C usually recommended for miscarriage. I'm 6.5 weeks and things aren't looking good. We're repeating the ultrasound tomorrow, and we'll know more then. But, I was wondering if it's early enough for things to happen on their own?

Default Regarding D & C

I am very sorry to hear you are having problems... it's an awful feeling! I am not sure the answer to your question, however I was in the same boat last week. No mention of a D & C was made by my Dr. I hope you have a pleasant suprise tom at your ultrasound!

I just had a D&C yesterday. I was 7wks5days along. We decided to do a D&C for a couple of reasons. I have had 3 losses now and the dr wanted to run chromosonal tests on the fetal tissue. And I didn't want to wait for a m/c to happen since it can take a long time.
More than likely, the dr will wait for it to happen on its own.
Good Luck!

Unhappy Sorry that you have to be posting here.

Almost 2 months ago I began my miscarriage. I was 6 weeks along.
I was told after confirmation that it was an unviable pregnancy that I would start bleeding instaneously...I didn't. A few weeks passed and I was given misoprostol to begin the bleeding. Then I bled for a month and I am now no longer pregnant my beta is back to normal but my lining was not completely shed and I still have blood clots in my uterus. After taking a triple dose of misoprostol to bring on the bleeding I have discovered it didn't work and that I will require a d&c anyways. Almost 2 months after it started.
Normally if your doctor knows that it may take awhile for the miscarriage to happen they will give you the option of doing it naturally or having a d&c done. As well at 6.5 weeks it's still very small and can be passed naturally. So many doctors do opt for their patients to do it naturally.
I hope that everything works out for you.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. If you need someone to talk to feel free message me.
