Question When did u go on maternity Leave?

Hey guys, I am just curious to hear other peoples's experiences regarding materity leave. When did you work up to??? I am due August 13th so I have a few months to think about it. It's my first pregnancy so I 'm not sure how I am going to cope in the last few months, we are all different afterall. The fact that our uk law has changed to increase maternity leave from 6mths to 9mnths is wonderful!

I would love to hear what you did or what you plan on doing???

Sam

I finished work when I was 36 weeks pregnant. I was glad not to finish later as my baby came at 38 weeks. To be honest I took so much time off sick in the last few weeks anyway as I was so tired and in pain in my hips, it didnt really feel like full time work anyway!

I am planning to go at 35 weeks, and maybe a week before than depending on work. For my job i have to travel to schools across the city after school, usuallu at work we are given 2 weeks before leaving where we don't go out so we can catch up, I am hoping they will let me do that for 3 weeks, but if they don't i'm gonna leave a week earlier.

I still worked when I had my first two sons. Son No 2, like Eva, I had terrible all day-and-night sickness, but managed to work upto around 20 weeks. Then I took sick leave as I had a very unpleasant, stressful job (permanent contract supply teacher for Birmingham LEA) and they were sending me into some pretty scary places. One day I simply walked out, or I think I'd have lost the baby (violent kids).

Congratulations!

I started my maternity leave at 38 weeks and Dara was born the next day - not recommended!!!

This time I'm finishing work at 36 weeks officially, but I may go sooner depending on how I'm feeling.

I finished 1 month early as I work over 50 hours a week in my jobs and I was totally exhausted and felt pretty rough for the few weeks leading upto my leaving date.

However, I wish I left it a bit nearer my due date as my baby was 2 weeks late so I was quite bored for 6 weeks.
