For those that have used higher doses of Clomid did you take your full dose at once or did you take 1 pill 2 or more times a day? I was told by my old Dr to take 1 pill 2 or more times a day but now my new Dr rx'd it as take 100 mg daily cd3-7. i am currently waiting for the nurse to call me back & I will ask her but I also wanted to here what others are doing. Also what time of day do you take it? I perfer either morning or bed but I do take my thyroid medication in the morning & I am wondering if that could affect the Clomid or vice versa.
That is what I was wondering. I am suposed to start 100mg of Clomid today & forgot to take it this a.m. so I wanted to make sure it was okay to take both pills at once.
It's more than okay! And since you mentioned you were going to take them in the morning...most of us take Clomid at night to help ease side effects. It doesn't totally get rid of the s/e, but it's supposed to help.
I was told to take the pills at once. And I also took them at night. It does seem to ease the s/e's a little. Good luck to you!

I was always told to take them 2 or more times a day so I would take one in the a.m. & one in the p.m. If I was upped to 150mg I would also take one in the afternoon. Like I said this was with my old Dr & he is just an OBGYN. I wonder if taking it all at one dose is better or if it is the same either way. Hhhmmm!?!? I will be taking them at bed now that I know I should take them at the same time. I did have s/e with Clomid before but I eventually got used to it. I'm hoping that taking it on cd3-7 works better the the cd5-9 I have used in the past too.
I take both my pills together at night right before bed.

My name is Tiya and I am sort of on the same type of treatment plan you are getting. I am doing 2000mg met + 100mg chlomid (day 3-7). I did that for 2 cycles. Now the RE wants me to increase to 150mg chlomid even though I did ovulate on the 100mg and he has also added that i shoudl take estrogen to help the lining. I am sort of worried after reading the side effects of estrogen and am wondering how important it is? Also, I don;t understand why he is increasing my chlomid to 150mg since I ovulated on 100mg.....
If you have any info or anyone else does, can you please comment?
Hi, Tiya. I'm afraid I don't know anything about taking estrogen. I can tell you that my RE increased me from 50mg to 100mg even though I did ovulate at 50mg. Unfortunately (and uncharacteristically), I didn't ask her why she did that. I just assumed she was trying to get more than the one follicle I had at 50mg so as to up my chances (I never had more than one, though). She upped me to 150mg after the second round of 100mg didn't work. Has your doctor been monitoring you with u/s? If not, then that might be the key to avoiding the estrogen. I was monitored with u/s every month, so we knew that the Clomid was NOT having an adverse effect on my lining. Maybe you should ask those two questions: Why is he increasing you when 100mg has worked and how does he know that your lining is getting thin (of course, if he HAS monitored you and seen that it is, the question should be about the effects of taking estrogen).
Thanks La Blanca! Yes I have been monitored regularly by u/s because I was supposed to be doing the ovidrel shot once my follicles were ready (last cycle). But unfortunately the follicle burst on its own before my final u/s so we had missed the egg.
Do you know what a reasonably good lining thickness is for implantation?
I will definitely ask him the questions about why he is increasing my chlomid because I read in the medication leaflet that if you respond (i.e. ovulate) on a certain dose there is no need to increase to a higher one....
I am so spooked by all the side effects I read about in those medication leaflets....
I did some research...it seems there is no exact answer, but I found in more than one place that 8mm was considered to be a reasonable thickness. Just in case anyone else is interested!
