How do you know when you feel energetic enough to go back to work? It would mean seeking a job and I haven't worked in 6 years.

Hi Jan, can you make an appointment at a local career center/unemployment office to start the process of returning to work? I am not familiar with your previous job, and I don't know your thyroid situation, so you will need to learn yourself what you can do on a daily basis. I think a career center will help you focus on finding a suitable job, based on your skills and number of hours/days you wish to work.

You could also try a temp agency. There you can work different jobs and wont always work a full week. This might be a good alternative instead of going back full time!
