Default When should I be taking it?

Hi everyone!

I'm kind of confused, should i be taking met (only up to twice daily so far) with breakfast and dinner? or breakfast and later at night?

Is it spaced out enough if i take it with dinner and not later?

i'd like to just take it with breakfast lnch and dinner eventually, but some of you suggest taking it at night to avoid side effects.

I don't know why I find this so confuseing.

I only take one at this point, but at the moment I'm taking the slow release dose, so I take it at lunch time, because the side effects do hit of an evening (oh the Met belly!) and I'd rather it happen at home than at work!

When I do up the dose I'm planning mid morning and late night as my dose times. My doctor told me it doesn't matter what time I take it, so long as I space them right. She just told me to work around any side effects.

You don't need to test your blood sugar, your doc should periodically (3-6 months) send you off for glucose tests to check it's progress.

I have been DX w/ PCOS and I received my glucose and insulin resistance tests back and the DR said they were normal... fasting glucose was 89 and insulin was 8. My AF are once in a blue moon unless I take Prometrium.

I have read that the Glucose Tolerance test are only 85% reliable. Do you know if you can take Metformin to help with the acne, weight & IR if your test come back normal? If so what dosage is usually prescribed?

my insulin levels were 11 and my glucose was 86. I was normal levels also, so thats why i was worried about low blood sugar. both parents are diabetics and its storng on both sides of my family, so i am always concerned.

My doc told me that insulin resistance is the reason I get all of the icky things that come with PCOS, and if we work on that with Metformin, then we should be able to reduce all of the icky symptoms. Most importantly the depression, followed hopefully by the hirsuitism and weight!

My glucose was in the normal range, but on the higher end, so she thought that was enough to get me into the Metformin.
