If I were you I would write down the pros and cons of both so you can see on paper what seems best. Don't be biased, just stick to the facts. Then add your positive and negative feelings about both. Take it along to your doc and discuss it properly. I do that and it really helps. For me, I prefer bcp to the mere thought of anything else because:

- Regulates my cycle
- controls my PCOS (to the point of not actually feeling as though I have it anymore!) and my endometriosis.
- contraception
- makes periods much lighter and far less painful
- acne-free (kinda! lol)
- can lose weight more easily
- have total control over my cycle
- helps with pain issues

So, when I compared these things with the usage of Met and the possible side effects, for me it was a no-brainer! But we're all different and you may well want a different way of managing your PCOS, and I can totally relate to that. Also for me, my gynae and nurse said that I could be super-fertile on Met (I have periods by myself and now have a regualr cycle when not on bcp) and I am not obese either (just a bit overweight) so it figures that I need contraception really, not something to make me ovulate more lol! Also, ovulating is pretty painful for me and my natural periods make me feel like I'm a zombie, so I'd rather not have them until I need them haha!

Sorry for the long post! xx

Thanks for the info. I guess I've been too afraid to start anything in fear that I would make my hormones worse, you know? Fear of the unknown pretty much. I've never really been on anything (other than spiro) and for me the hair loss is by far the worse symptom of PCOS and reading that the hair loss may become worse by the use of bcps, I get scared. But I have to do something now and I'm really hoping bcps are the answer for me.
