Default When you all say clomid failed..

What do you me?

Not getting pregnant?

No O?

Not making follies?

I am confused my chart says I O'ed, and becasue I got the trigger shot my RE says that I O'ed for sure. BUT I thought there were test to take to make sure one O'ed I haven't had any labs done... I am confused!

I did have a 21 1/2 cm follie that is what clomid does right forms the follies...I need some education here for sure....

Technically, Clomid "works" for you if you ovulate. Many women on here say "Clomid didn't work" when referring to the fact that they didn't get bfp's on those cycles in which they did ovulate from Clomid. This is technically incorrect since the goal of Clomid is ovulation induction. Same can be said for Femara & other ovulation induction drugs. I could say "Clomid didn't work for me" b/c I didn't get preggers from it, but that's not true b/c I DID ovulate from it a few times. Does that make sense? HTH!!!

I did not ovulate. I wasn't monitored at the time, but I think it's safe to say I didn't produce any follies. af never came, I wasn't pg and had to be induced with Provera.

If you had the 21 follie and triggered, then you ovulated.

But these things I plan won't happen right away.
Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow, be patient! For it will surely take place.
It will not be late by a single day.

Yes. Clomid creates follies. 22mm is a ripe follie. Usually, it will be released on its own. For women who have problems with this the HCG trigger shot is used to make it pop out.... Once the follie explodes and out comes eggy, all the juice that surrounded the egg in the follie is the progesterone. The progesterone, once released, raises the body temp slightly. This being the reason that BBT charting is helpful to women TTC or for other family planning. The rise confirms that progesterone was released. Usually meaning that the egg came out with it. Some women create follies with no eggs.... some eggs are always bad.... etc.... So it is possible for women to get a temp rise and still not "ovulate" but the temp rise confirms that the progesterone that was in the follicle has been let out.... Did that make sense? LOL If not I can try explaining farther! LOL

One thing I want to caution you about in regards to the trigger shot... it does NOT guarantee ovulation. I have done an HCG trigger shot on my past three cycles and only on the most recent one did I actually ovulate.

The only way to know for absolute certain that you ovulated is by the results of your P4 bloodwork about 7 dpo.

I agree with the PP. Clomid does not get you pregnant or sustain a pregnancy or have any impact on the quality of your eggs. All it can do is make your body ovulate. So if "Clomid failed" then you did not ovulate when taking it.

Hope that helps!

OMG!! Could this be why I always get crosshairs on Fertility Friend showing ovulation, but blood test at the dr. shows that I didn't ovulate after all???

The dr. could not explain this! But this sounds like what might be happening, because I always get the temp shift....without actually ovulation, apparently.

So, my follies are letting out the prog. but no egg??? How do I fix this??

I hope you can help me! Good luck getting your BFP!!!

I always wondered the same question--How do you know if you really ovulated after the trigger??? My RE told me that it pretty much is guaranteed that the egg is released. I have never done the P4 7 dpo test?? What does P4 stand for??

Unfortunately the only 100% way to know that you ovulated is to get pregnant.

chelsaebare: Thanks for the info! I had no idea a follie could rupture with no egg! Hmmm. Please do tell how to fix if you know. I'm very interested. I've been trying to figure out how there would be a temp shift and bloodwork says no O, but have found no explanation except from you.
