Where in the adoption process are you?

It seems like there are a few of us doing the adoption thing but we haven't really been communicating lately, so I thought maybe we could see where we all are at.

As for me, we are doing the international thing. We have finished the homestudy and have been fingerprinted by the INS. So we are waiting for the INS approval to come through and are getting the other documents ready for the dossier.

We are also waiting for my passport. My husband applied for his passport and got it in about 10 days. I applied for my renewal passport about two weeks before he went and I am still waiting for my new passport.

Our home study took longer than expected as my husband did not pass his physical right away. He had the symptoms of a kidney stone (of which, he has had two before) but they had to run a bunch of tests to prove that it was nothing more than another stone. By the time he got in for the tests, the stone had passed but....it delayed us a few weeks.

All for now, where in the process is everyone else????

You read my mind I was going to post for updates as well !

We are going the international route (I hope!) as well...we had chosen Kazakhstan as our country but now are swinging towards Belarus due to the time factors including stay in country and process time...We are just waiting to find out more and see if we will be approved financially for the amount it is going to cost us...
Our homestudy is mostly done we are just waiting for country decision...hoping to find out for sure on Monday

Looking forward to hearing how everyone else is doing !!

Good luck to all those in the process! We completed our adoption in February. We adopted a 6 month old girl from Russia, who is now 15 mos. old and the light of my life!!!

If anyone has questions about the international process, and Russia in particular, I am always here to help!

We just moved so I wasn't around a computer much to check in on everyone. I really missed you all!

We just had our last homestudy visit this week. All of our paperwork is about complete, and in 2 weeks or so we will start the INS process. Once that's completed and our dossier is sent to China we will have about an 11 month wait.

So, we are expecting that by the end of the year we will be official "waiting parents" and hopefully by this time next year our little one will be on her way home.

Can't wait to read about everyone else's progress!

We just sent the last of our dossier to our agency Friday. We are now waiting for it to be translated. We also accepted the referral of a baby boy we'll name Zachary Wayne. (Zach for short).
