Default where do I start???

Hi,

I am hoping to get some advice as I have completely fried my brain Reading all the excellent posts on alt remedies!!!!

Looking through all the posts I realized that all u ladies had a great idea of how pcos effects u,my problem is I don't!!! About 6 years ago we decided to try for a baby and given the facts that my cycles were so long ( anything upto 90 days) and that we hadn't been using protection for quite a while and nothing had happened I went to my to. She said it was poss I had pcos and to come back for some blood tests. They showed I wasn't o'ing and a scan showed cysts on my overies.

As I wanted a baby I was put over to a gynae who put me on met and clomid. After 2 cycles I conceived but m/c at 6 weeks and again got pregnant 2 months later with dd now 3. Since then I have got pregnant twice on my own and m/c again. I feel that the reason I am m/c now is my hormones are all over the place and I want to try the natural way however I don't know where to start as I have never been told what aspects of pcos I have e.g insulin resistence.

Can anyone please advise me what tests I should be asking my doc for and also give me an idea of some herbs I could start with.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

Claire

Hi Claire! Welcome to SC!

I'm so sorry for your losses. *Hugs*

Are you still on Metformin? If not, you may want to go back on it. Do you stay on it when you get pregnant? A lot of cysters stay on Met for at least the first trimester.

You could try taking Soy Isoflavones to induce ovulation. You would take it the same cd's you would Clomid. And after you've ovulated maybe you could try adding natural progesterone cream (npc). You run 1/4-1/2 tsp twice daily on thin parts of your skin like inner thigh, inner arms. And you would continue using this until the end of your first trimester or if your dr prescribes you progesterone support.

I hope this has helped you to get started.

Default Thanks

Hi Jodi,

Thanks for the advice. Yes i have been back on met for the last 6 weeks or so along with agnus castus, dong quai and inositol.

If i was to try soy would i have to stop taking any of the above herbs???

Also my docs told me to come off Met as soon as i discovered i was pregnant as it wasn't safe ( i didn't realise i could stay on it) does it help reduce m/c rate?? Also with npc where would i buy it??

Thanks again
claire

Hi Claire, I'm not sure where you would buy npc in the UK. Sorry. Maybe you could order it online or get it from a local health store. I don't know anything about dong quai or inositol. I would just continue with the stuff you are on and see if they help to regulate your cycles and ovulate. Give it a fair shot though, as it can take time to see changes. Metformin is apparently able to help reduce m/c in women with pcos. It doesn't stop them from happening, just gives us the same odds as the 'average' woman. I have a dr who has told me to stop Met as soon as I get pg but since then I've had two drs tell me to stay on it for at least the first trimester.
