Just wanted to see who is out there and where you are in your adoption process...researching, homestudy, waiting for referral, waiting for travel? Which country?
We are waiting for travel for our son, Sam, who is in Korea.

We currently have 2 foster children - they will be 2yr and 3yr very soon. Both of their bio-Mom's have voluntarily surrendered their rights, the bio-dad's have had their right's terminated.
We are currently waiting for CPS to get all of the paperwork ready for adoption in each case (unrelated cases). We are also waiting for our agency to transfer us to their adoption unit so we can begin looking for a lawyer that will work with us on both adoptions.
The kids are doing great, we are just waiting on the paperwork and a date...
Our family is complete! We have one bio daughter and 2 adopted from China. Emily has been home for 4 years and Katie for 2 years. Everyone is growing and such sweet joys!
I'm interested in reading how everyone else is doing, too!

We're in the process of approval but have been talking with an expectant mom who is due in Sept. If she chooses us, we'll get moved to priority with our agency and they'll get our homestudy done.

MY husband and I started our adoption process in Feb. We have taken our classes and are doing our home study the first and second week of May. We are adopting through CPS and are willing to adopt a sibling group. We are wanting to adopt children under 4 but will probably get our homestudy approved for children up to 8.

God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called.
mommavia-can i ask what agency you use? how long was the wait? i have started looking into korea. i like the idea that you can use an escort. it would be hard for us to travel with DS.

For our first son's adoption we used WACAP and loved them! I was disappointed we couldn't use them again for our second adoption when we moved. This time around we are with Children's Home Society and Family Services (in MN) and love them too. Our process has been different because we fell in love with a waiting child and did not really wait for a referral.
Time lines are varying depending on the agency because of the size of the program. It seems that the process generally runs 9 -18 months. Certain agencies can only place in certain states because of their contracts with their Korean counterparts. A gerat place to start is to check out www.adoptkorea.com to see which agencies work in your state. A couple agencies can place in all states, but you sometimes need to be open to mild or correctable medical needs (such as a low birthweight). And if you find a sweet waiting child (on the agencies own waiting child site or www.rainbowkids.com) they can sometimes work with you then.
If you'd like more info about adopting from Korea, let me know!

We finished our homestudy at the end of March, received the finished report(s) in April and were just chosen by a birth mom in Florida last Friday! She is due October 5th...We find out the baby's sex in another week!
DH and I are just beside ourselves with excitement and anticipation. Thank goodness we have a lot to do to prepare ourselves, this should help time pass without wishing our lives away! We get to prepare for our little one but we also get to really emphasize our relationship, sleeping, deciding to go to dinner at 8 p.m. on a Wednesday without a second thought!
It really has helped lift me up since this is an emotional time for me. Had we not miscarried our twins last October (thank God it was early) we would probably have given birth about now since their due date was June 12th but twins tend to go early. So anyhow, I've had some emotional moments but I feel them protecting me and I find comfort in knowing they are free and happy!
Our homestudy was entirely painless and we loved our social worker. I hope people can try to relax and be themselves during their interviews.

Reason: additional comments...
DH & I started the process in Feb. We just turned in all of our paperwork the end of April, got a worker assigned to us about a week and a half ago, all the questionaires are in from our references, and our sw is going to expedite our paperwork since we had it all there - instead of bits and pieces! She is going to try and get everything done (interviews, homestudy, etc) by June 1st. (Or start June 1st, dh and I are a little unclear about that, so we are waiting for a callback from her again to ask.)
