Default Where to start . . .

I signed up a few weeks ago and started reading up when I finally got a doctor to even agree to check me out for PCOS. Yesterday, I was finally put on metformin.

5 or 6 years ago, my sister was diagnosed with PCOS. By then I was "more" irregular than she was, I was more over weight, i had more acne problems, I had the symptoms but had never heard of it. The problem was that she was in San Francisco, and I was in Spain and my gyn then didn't even think to do the blood tests. I didnt know about the blood tests so I thought he knew what he was doing. 4 years later, married and trying to conceive without success, and now in Ohio, we finally decided to stop putting it off. I thought it wasn't pcos and that I was just defective LOL.

One look at me and he asked me several question to which I could answer yes to all except the facial hair. (except that this morning I did find two on my chin that I pulled out). He ordered tests and said I think you do have PCOS.

I've been jumping around here reading the stickies and can't figure out where to start as I reading something, i am ready to jump on finding out more about that thing... well you know how it goes.

I'm 36 and not getting younger but he wants me to wait before going on clomid. So I'm on metformin 500 for a month and then twice that next month.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and that i'm no longer lurking.

Thanks!

Helllllo!!

I am not new here but I stopped posting for about a year because I've been going through some personal issues. I just got married in Jun 07 so I am starting to get a little concerned as to whether or not I will be able to conceive and hold a child for 9 mos.

I can say, this is the place to be. These women are remarkable in terms of support, info, laughs...ect

You will do great. The most important part is that you now know what your issue is (PCOS) and you can now do what you need to do to feel like a woman. Lots of Cysters have used Metformin and have lost lots of weight and are happy moms now. So Good luck to you.
