Default who do i go to to get spironolactone?

i am twenty-two years old and have been struggling with acne since i was eleven. my skin is so oily. i do not technically have pcos--they did some tests last year and it came back with estrogen on the very low side of normal and testosterone on the high side of normal--but all still within the normal range. i went on birth control to help with my acne. it worked well. it is the only treatment that has ever truly helped. unfortunately, i developed a blood clot and can no longer take birth control. my acne and oily skin is starting to come back. i have heard spironolactone could be helpful. do most dermatologists know about this treatment, and are most willing to prescribe it? i would very much like to try this as a treatment option. i am against long term oral antibiotic use as i do not think it is healthy to supress the immune system, and nothing tpical seems to work for me.

thank you.

Here's a warning: My Endo right now would not prescribe me Spiro b/c I am a young female, and it can damage a male fetus if you get pregnant on it so she told me either I go on birth control or no Spiro. I am in the process of finding a new doctor, but here's a heads up as to problems you might face. I have a friend who got hers from a dermatologist, but again, you might have to fight for it due to it's risk for harming a baby.

I'm not sure how old some of you are. I am 30 and was prescribed Spironolactone for acne about a month ago. They had asked me if I was pregnant or planning on having kids. I have 2 kids and am not planning on having more.

I think that's why they gave me this med. I just started taking 50 mg. I got it from my dermatologist. He told me it's actually used to lower blood pressure. He assured me I would be okay to take it. I have had cystic acne on my chin. I have noticed my skin doesn't seem as oily since taking this. So far it seems to be working. The only thing I don't like is that I seem to be tired a lot. I think it's because it's lowering my blood pressure too. Have any of you had this problem?

I'm not sure how long I will have to take this, but I have tried a lot of things, so I am hoping this keeps working. I am also worried about long term affects with the liver. Has anybody heard anything about that?
