So I sent a package of supplies down to New Orleans. Guess what was in it? Well I sent a whole bunch of stuff but the thing that really mattered to me was the many packs of pink razors and bottles of girly shaving cream. One of my first thoughts was "oh no,those poor girls that have to shave everyday like I do!" I don't think I could keep it together if I was stuck without that stuff. I know that people must have important things on their mind. But I really feel for our cysters who are stuck in that mess and trying to deal with one of the meanest symptoms of pcos. If that was me I would grab one of those bags of razors and praise the lord.
So, I am not a big camper. That is one of my fears, that I will end up in some kind of survival mode and not be able to hide my symptoms. Most of my friends go camping and they are always bugging me to come. They can't figure out why I don't like it since I am such an outdoors kinda girl. I feel like this really holds me back. If I ever want to do somthing off the cuff, like go on some crazy roadtrip with my frinds, I am too scared of not having enough privacy. Anyone else think these are scary things? I hope that doesn't seem too trivial but it is something that I've grappled with and never talked about to anyone ever.
Awww.....
The hair thing SUCKS! I don't have it horribly anymore, but have you tried waxing? It will stay gone for a little longer! I wax my eyebrows and they stay good for awhile! If you haven't tried it, give it a try and test it out to see how long the hair stays gone!
And yes I HATE CAMPING, hair or not, I hate camping!
OMG - I don't go camping for the exact same reason! I have to shave my face every day and if I had to go a few days "roughing it" I would look like a man. My DH understands and doesn't press the issue, but I know he would like to go for at least a weekend. But to him, camping is a tent & some sleeping bags, a fire & fishing...no bathrooms, no running water. I refuse to shave my face in the babbling brook or something. It's embarrassing.
But I really would like to go sometime, especially now that we have a baby. When she's older, I'd like to take her. I have some really good memories of camping when I was a kid. I'd hate to deny her that because I'm self conscious.
I used to like it, but with the allergies out here, I would wake up choking in the night. I hate the most being away from a toilet. Hey, we cysters never know when nature might call!

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.
I can't stand camping, I haven't been since I went to school camp when I was 11, before hair became an issue (oh, those innocent days!). I'm a home comforts kinda girl, if camping came with a bed, tv, dvd player, private bathroom, fully functional kitchen, then I'd be up for it. Otherwise, not a chance!!

The camping that I do isn't really camping...we go to a camp site here on Long Island, NY and it's a site that has bathrooms on the site and showers with toilets. I know how hard it is and I know that feeling of not being able to shave (((HUGS)))

I try not to let the hair stop me from doing things I want to do, but it's a major pain. I pluck my face rather than shave which makes it a little easier I think, I can hide in a sleeping bag with my tweezers, mirror and torch! I so wish that I could sleep over at a friend's house or something without having to make sure I wake up early to take care of the hair without anyone noticing. My worst fear is ending up somewhere without my tweezers!
i do go camping in a tent near a river BUT the sites have bathrooms, shower toilet and mirrors alot of privacy(sp?) and bring my stuff but I don't have to much facial hair just underchin and I wax before I go. Sorry to hear that you don't like but i so understand your feelings and don't ever done anything you don't feel like doing!!!!

I have thought about that also, our poor cysters out there without the basic tools to remove the hair (razor, tweezer, etc). I've always had that fear, too (being in a situation where I wouldn't be able to take care of it).
When I was a kid, we used to go camping at a camp site. Members would have their own "lot" that they would rent. You could put a camper up, tent, whatever you wanted. Each lot had it's on outhouse. I use a razor to shave my facial hair. If I were in the situation, I'd just keep a razor in my purse and take the purse to the outhouse with me. Nobody knows if you have pads, tampons, whatever. Or if you have a private tent, couldn't you just tweeze or shave in the tent? I dry shave so I don't have to worry about water & shaving cream.

That really made me smile........ I pictured my self kneeling over a brook looking around, jumping everytime I hear something thinking someone is going to catch me shaving.... lol I'm not an outdoorsy girl anyway so no camping is fine with me. But if I did go, I'd probably bring a razor, shaving cream, water in a water bottle squirter and a towel and say I was going to the bathroom to ensure privacy. That would work, right??? I mostly shave by feel only anyway...........

I hate camping, but not really cause of hair. It is more that I like running water and electricity and a nice comfy bed. Well pretty much everything at home

I just had to say, that was a really cool thing you did!!! That's something I wouldn't have thought of sending. For the question, I hate camping for the same reasons as you. Damn hair.
I agree - that's a beautiful idea manic_mess. I know basic needs are pressing, but I'm afraid I would just be destroyed if I couldn't rid myself of this facial hair every day. A lovely thought.
