Default who have u told about pcos?

Hey all , i have just been to the main site where everyone in america writes and saw a post about who people have told about their pocs and i thought how about the uk and irish women and who have they told?
so here we are ..............
My parntner - With alll the vists to the hospital and the doctors he still didnt understand really , so i made a vist to my local book shop and brought a book about pcos and the effects and i left page open that explained what pcos is and the differnent effects of it. After trying to explain it i left the book open on his pillow on the page about it he read it and leaned over and gave me a huge hug and said that he would be there no matter what happens.
MY parents- My mum and dad are still very much " everything will be fine" i have tried to explain how i am feeling about it and even said to mum about reading about it but she said no.
My sister- My sister seems to understand as she is always there for me and asking if i am okay , i am a bit woried for her as so i have heard there is a 5o% chance that she could have it to ?
My best friend- Has been fantastic we always look out for books and articles about it , she understands my moods and knows when i feel bad.
Anyway i just thought that i would see who other people have told and how they have reacted.

I've got to say, im pretty lucky, all my friends and family have known for the eleven years that I have had it for, and are all really good about it, and its an easy subject that i can talk about freely with them all.

Only known for a few months myself, but I've told my mum. Gave her some info I found on here so she could understand more.
My best friend. I had mentioned to her before I was diagnosed that I knew I had pcos. She's training to be a nurse so her knowledge of how my body's supposed to be working is helpful.
Also told my brother and his girlfriend

Not really had anyone be all supportive as I'm not sure they really understand it all. I think they just see it as my periods being a bit wonky!

To be honest I prefer to get on with things in my own little way....and if I need support or info I come on here

I tell all sorts of people so that more people know what it is. I dont think it is embarassing or shamefull jeez its a medical condition like you would lie about being diabetic or having a thyroid condition? It really is common three girls i work with have been dx this year and i bet there are tons more just in the shop i work at. Lets educate people so we can get better treatment!
There is my little pride march of my own ha ha ha

I tell all sorts of people! Like yukabee said, I don't find it embarrassing and I see it as raising awareness. One of my friends has also been diagnosed now, and reading out the list of symptoms to my mum I think she has it too, although she's past the menopause and it's not bothering her at all. I also read a general health messageboard and quite often when women describe difficulties in losing weight, etc. I recommend that they ask their Dr about PCOS.
