Hi there! Well, I have had dark hair on my neck for years (since probably middle school). It really was only there, not even on my chin. Anyways, about 2-3 years ago (after I had been on Loestrin for probably 3 years), I became fed up with it. I asked my doctor about it and she said that Yaz might help with the hair. Honestly, I don't think it had anything to do with Loestrin since it was there all along. But I have seen a slight increase in the past year or so. I feel like it's growing in faster, maybe because I pluck it like crazy (I know - really bad to do!).
Not sure if that helps or not! I don't really know if it was caused by Loestrin. Yaz didn't help at all.

I was Yaz for a month and hated it, then I switched to Loestrin24Fe and love it. Then again what works for one person doesn't work for another. So if you find that you don't like Loestrin you can always talk to your doctor about switching you to another one.

I used Loestrin24 for one month before I conceived my son in '06... (BCP in Dec. '05 and herbs in Jan '06). I'm using it again for the month of June '08 to see if I can conceive again in July...I did notice my chin hairs have slowed down a lot... I can't even pluck them with my nails like I used to...that's only after one month..I took my last pill yesterday. I do notice that I'm a little moody... I don't like that!!

Did you only go on Loestrin Fe one month then stop it and that is when you conceived? Or did you get pregnant while on it for that one month? I ask because nothing else has worked and my theory in my head is to go on BCP (and the doc gave me this one) to try and get my body better and then try to conceieve - sounds like you had some sort of similair process???
I was on Yaz for 2 months. First month was all good and then the second month I became the perfect hypochondriac. Every headache was an aneurysm and every leg cramp was a blood clot. I cried the whole time at the doctors when I got the pill changed, believe me, she didn't hesitate to change it lol. She switched me to Loestrin 24 FE to help that, I really hope it works. I'm only 2 days into it though

This is only my second month on Loestrin. I have been steadily losing weight since I started my diet/exercise program. I don't think I've had any negative side effects.
I hadn't thought about it til now, but my acne has been better. I am quick to get teary lately, but I have always been emotional. Who knows? XD
For me, this was the only pill that did what it was supposed to do. My periods were almost normal. Well, as normal as they can be for someone in our position and I experienced very little side effects, the worst of which was breakthrough bleeding. Good luck.

I was treated for pcos beginning about 7 years ago but the symptoms had been going on for longer than that. Lately, they seem so much worse. Irritability, mood swings, breast pain, nearly two months between periods with heavy periods when they do come, practically zero libido and weight gain beyond belief.
So after testing my thyroid, blood sugar and cholesterol as well as having a digital mammogram and breast sonograms - I've come back with a clean bill of health.
Unfortunately, my symptoms still exist and aren't improving. I'm at a loss. I went to a new gyn who decided to put me on bc and prescribed loestrin 24 since it affects libido the least if at all. Although she said Yaz has the greatest success with pcos patients, it decreases libido and we certainly don't want to add to that problem.
I'm hoping to have success with this pill. I haven't been on one in years so I'm a little nervous about it. I just want to feel better! And losing weight would be a big plus as right now I'm so tired that I don't have the energy to even attempt exercise.
I'll be glad to post my experience when I am able to start the pill. Should be sometime next month when my AF decides to show up again.
I'm so glad I ran across this post!! I've been wondering why I've been in the weird mood swings these past 8 days or so...Hmm now I know it could be the Loestrin; but considering how YAZ broke me out into hives that landed me a trip in the ER 3 yrs ago...I'll count my blessings with Loestrin. The moodiness is the only side effect I've had. As for the Met...teehee...just flatulence and a run to the restroom but otherwise no metallic tastes or anything else. I'm very satisfied with my treatment meds thus far.

I love love love my Loestrin!!!! After my traumatic go with Yaz, Loestrin is my savior!
GOOD: Lighter periods than Yaz, no side effects at all!! (other than one...)
BAD: At first my face broke out (only a bump or two, and I never get acne) and I am noticing more hair in the shower drain than before. My facial hair isn't getting better, but not worse, either. My periods are TOO light... I can't even wear a light tampon for 8 hours! But, I guess other people would consider that a plus lol.

I've been on a dozen different BCP's for the past 6 years due to irregular cycles, and cycled through about 5 Gyno's before one even considered checking for PCOS. I was put on Loestrin24 once I found out I had PCOS/endometriosis for about a year and absolutely loved it. My periods were almost regular! lol. I didn't experience any noticeable side effects. However, About a year after I started it, I got married, and had to start seeing a military doctor instead of my gyno. They don't carry loestrin in the military pharmacy, so I had to switch to Yaz.
It's been a little over a year now on Yaz, and it has not been kind to me. From the start, I was experiencing daily nausea, which I just blew off since it wasn't a life or death situation. However, about 3 weeks ago, I started experiencing excruciating migraines, daily. The kind where no medicine will help and you can't function on a day to day basis. I went to the Dr and they told me it was from stress. I've been taking Excedrin on a daily basis to try and help the pain, but I KNOW this is not good for me. About a week ago, the ear pain started to kick in. It feels like you have an ear infection, but it's not constant. It's like someone is jamming something into your ear drums every hour or so.
After doing some researching, I found out that it's Yaz causing all of these issues, and that many women experience these same symptoms. I have a phone consult with my Dr today, and will be switching to a different BCP, I've even considered going back to Loestrin and just paying out of pocket. If you experience these symptoms while on Yaz please stop taking it immediately! These migraines are NOT a good sign and can lead to a stroke if you let it get bad enough.
LOVE IT plain and simple. I'm on the Loestrin 28 FE...I started on it back in the 90's when it came out. I've tried ONE other one and that was Yasmin, because they said it was "better" for woman w/ PCOS...It was NOT better for this woman w/ PCOS. I went right back to my Loestrin. While as one said the the side effects can vary from person to person...I've not had a SINGLE problem with this BC.

It was the third birth control I tried and was on it the better part of 10 years. I loved it. For me, I lost the weight that I had gained on other pills, didn't have the moodiness or other pms symptoms and 3 day periods were great. I'm actually on it again currently for a cycle before I start clomid. I had no problem going back on it after being off for 8 months. Everyone's body is different, though. What works well for me may not necessarily work well for someone else. See how you feel after a cycle and talk to you doc if you don't like it.
I was on Loestrin 24 FE about a year ago and it really helped me. I had tried Neon(SP?) and that caused me to have a cyst burst. I was on another generic brand for the past few months and it caused me to have crazy mood swings. I'm now back on Loestrin and so far so good the only problem for me is the price, 60 bucks a month does anyone take something similar to Loestrin 24 Fe that is cheaper?
